Dude, if you can't half a recipe, you shouldn't be growing mushrooms. Make as many as possible. You will need more eventually.

Grain > agar is usually slow or even fails me.. They need to assimilate the nutes within the grain before jumping to the agar. Im had better success scratching little mycelium tissue excluding the grain to agar.

Yeah I was gonna say I've never had a problem putting a grain on a plate.

How long does it take to get your PC up to stable pressure? Since the boil over risk is high. Or can I just add some water to cover the bottom of the container during PC so it prevent boil over?

I watched rrs video in making agar and he submerged the glass bottle in water to add more volume in the PC so it would heat evenly and cool slower to prevent boil over and overly wet. I know it is not the same as this Tek but hey it's similar.

Follow the tek exactly. Raise your playes up with 2 sets of trivets and 2 sets of jar lid rings.

Well it's a learning process for sure lol. Good thing Agar isn't expensive. I tried this with glass half pint. Boil over and too wet. Will try again today. When you start to PC these what do you do to prevent boil over? Pastys Tek says to bring up the pressure slowly but what does that mean? I tried doing that but it took the longest time for it to stabilize for the 10 min wait before adding the weight on top. Can I put it on high like usual to heat it up or will that make a mess? If you have a hole on the lid do you even need to loosen up the lid a bit back?

RR recommends filling your PC'er with about 8cm or 2-3 inches of water, which you stick your agar media pouring container directly in.
This prevents the inside of the jar from overheating too quickly.

Thats terrible advice for pasty plates. Agar media bottles can be submerged. Glad minis will be soaked to all hell if submerged in water.
What agar plates are you using first of all? And what is do you mean by boil over?

How much agar did you put in the half pint? You only need enough to cover the bottom.

Boil over. Stick one in the microwave without the top on. You'll find out lol gets to hot to fast and acts like a volcano.

My bad. I'm into wayyy too many agar TEK's at the moment and thought he was talking about using a standard media container type deal. I was just waking up

Well I definitely ended up with more than that. Since I had the 1/2 pint sitting partly in the water and backed off the lid so it some water got in it and made more than I need so I just made like a good inch and a half of media and I used potato flour. When sterilizing just an empty jar how should I go about that? I just left the lid loose and empty is that ok for it?
