I use the same lids I use on my quart jars for grains. Metal lids with silicone'd on SFD pieces.

Those squat jars suck ass for visibiility and ease of manipulation in your hand. “1/2 pint loew/cornell kerr 12 pack” is the shit. Fuck quilted.

2/24 had bacterial growth unopened. Im now saran wrapping all plates.

Looking at it ,it seems that in Europe these jars are scarce ,so people are charging silly money £30/35 for 12. £86 on Amazon.

Look into glad minis, ziploc (square base mini knock offs), or ziploc twist n loc pint containers.
keep is stupid simple - go to the local $1 store and see what kind of pp5 containers they sell. Also stop by the uk supplies thread.

I'd rather spend 3 bux on a set of containers than 3 bux on a single container I have to empty first. In order to actually do any agar work would be a pain. You'd need to eat a bunch of spur cream and maneuver a light and lid around to even line up where you want to make a cut.

I have like 50+ petris left so im just reusing my recycle products. I make tacos every tuesday for my family and along with other meals and products I'll have plenty to work with, but you have valid points. Maybe I will make a PF cake or just do grains in it. I figure if I leave it to colonize for long enough I shouldnt have any trouble. I can spawn it outside in the worst cases.

Yea I would use it for bottle grows myself. That way you can inoculate clear containers at the same time with the same culture and get a good idea if it's done

so listen folks..pls help.. I recently made an agar batch and dropped a single myceliated grain last march 13... after a week my grain grew all fuzzy but hasnt quite jumped off to the agar yet... is there something wrong with my media?
the agar surface still hasnt shown any visible contaminants... no pooling water, nothing.. just that single fuzzy grain and no crawling mycelia.

It shoulld get there, give it another week. I recently did my first few G2A and they completely colonized the grain again before heading outward along the agar. Give em another week and I bet it will look purty. I will post my plates on the pic of the day soon.

I dunno man.. 2 weeks of growth sounds like bad genetics to begin doing isolation xD thanks for the response though
