Thanks to you for writing this up. I don't even think it's debatable that this Tek has helped more amateur growers than any other. It's a mandatory step for anybody getting into mycology. Cheers!

I love this so much. Thank you for taking the time and effort. Using household items as lab equipment is so satisfying. It's a special type of efficiency.

The very easiest and least scary way to get introduced to agar.

Yes. It goes away after a few days, and you can open them upside down in your SAB. That will get rid of whatever water is pooled. Even if you don't, the liquid gets re-absorbed into the agar eventually.

Thanks for responding! I'm still a noob at this haha my first batch. Also thinking about making some lc too. I only have one syringe left and my first monotub just got trich so I am trying new things. I'll put the lc to agar once it's ready as well to make sure it's not contaminated. I'm not sure where I went wrong. But this set back won't stop me. Just sucks 3 months down the drain.

Use a clean culture from agar before making a lc. Spores straight to of is a bad idea

If you start g2g after you get good jars from agar work you'll never waste 3 months again, rather you'll be spawning a tub once a week or more if you want

hi guys..
I just wanna ask if there are notable disadvantages using screwtops with this tek?
sturdier pp5 screwtop containers are way cheaper here than those glad snaps, I can guess they could last longer, too.. thanks!!

You can. I prefer small jars over pp5 screwtops though, they come in smaller size so I don't use as much agar

I was wondering about this. If I understand you correctly you use glass jars for this? Similar to those used for the BRF cake tek?

My micropore tape that was over the holes melted in the PC leaving the GE holes exposed. I covered tops with paper towel and foil.
Any advice on that?

Use real micropore tape?
If it melted chances are you used transpore or durapore.
Mp tape is made from 'gentle paper' or cloth. Ive had the sticky adhesive melt away during high psi runs but the tape itself remains. (multihour runs)

I dont, if I want to keep a culture around I will pop it in the fridge but uninoculated plates sit at room temp

Don't bother tryp, he won't listen, he asked the same question here not long ago and I gave him a detailed explanation. Your typical guy who asks a question but don't seem to give a shit about the answer.
