I love how much knowledge everyone here has to share. This is super fascinating. Mad science here I come! Will be investing in a microscope in the near future.

APE is the product of crossing PE with pf albino. Workman is who made the APE. He basically got a monokaryon via streaking plates and then found an individual colony and confirmed it under a scope. Then colonized a jar of spawn then introduced spores from the other lineage. That meant that as soon as a spore germinated it was forced to mate with the already established monokarotic mycelium. This guaranteed a cross.
There are other ways of course. Here is the log of my cross. I currently have a 7th generation culture going right now.

My pressure cooker doesn't seem to want to go above 12. is that still enough heat? I'm using s separate electric burner. Maybe it's not hot enough?

Yes. I think it's supposed to work at 15 psi on setting 3 though.

Phew! Thank you so much! I was worried. I finally figured this thing out and have my plates with holes and durapore tape ready for the next steps. It took me too long tonight so I'll make them first thing in the morning. What would you consider changing 45 min to and 90 min to. Perhaps some kind of percentage of time increase versus PSI I could abide by. I think I figured out the issue. My burner has a safety mechanism which sucks but helps me not set me house on fire from overheating. It doesn't drop below 12 PSI just fluctuates up and down from it.

Depending on media choice 45 at 12 psi might even be enough. If I was using media with solids or high populations I might do an hour. I know many people say 20 min is enough but I have had a lot of bacterial blank plates doing that. My elevation probably doesn't help.
For grain I would also advise adjusting based on grain size. Millet would probably be fine at 2 hours while for wheat or rye I might add 30 min more. I wouldn't recommend oats or popcorn at all as they have a larger mass and higher pops.

I'm using kamut berries which is similar to rye. It's an ancient strain of wheat and makes large wheat berries. It's just what was cheap and in stock at the lot store that was decent. I also have some spelt I may have to mix in.

At what point should you change the agar recipe for a culture?
I know that its useful but im wondering should i be transferring from MEA to PDA to MEA or should i use one recipe for a few transfers and then switch it up after the second or third transfer ?

I use my little pc (10.5 psi) for agar. I stabilize and cook for 20 min. I do pour agar though and sterilize in media bottles, not sure if this would work for pasty plates. I don't see why not though
I have never once had a bad batch of agar.
Just giving you another perspective
Oh and I use premix mea and my elevation is like zero.

the population of the nutrients is an important factor when deciding time scale. food grade agar will likely need a longer time than lab grade

I made the things! I got a little color happy but it looks like orange jelly fungus which is my favorite. They are in the PC now and later today I'll drop some purple mystic spores on them.

So iv been getting alot of condensation on the inside of my agar jars, so much that its been leaving pools of water on my agar, so now iv got two questions.
Is it safe to open the lid and pour the water out inside my SAB?
And how can i prevent all this condensation from happening?

I flip mine lid side down and give them a good tap before putting in my sab. Once in there I hold the lid on by the middle while tipping it to get the water to pool near the lid. I crack them ever so slightly to allow the moisture to drip out. The lid never comes off completely. But I also use the square glad minis not the rounds. Only drawback to these imo is the blue lids. You can't really get a good look at your growth pattern
I haven't figured out how to not get condensation
