Ok thanks man. I was posting it here since it followed the tek and might help someone else using this method. Ill check it out. I wasnt sure if bacteria could still hide in myc on agar like it can do mixed in a substrate.

Thanks man. What do you think Bod? Even if there is hidden bacteria can I still seperate it on agar or is it bred in for good? I did take these clones from that tub (in my sig) that got infected. I was told they could still do well. I just dont wanna waste a bunch of jars.

So i was ready to transfer these and i just dont feel right about it. The seem really fuzzy on top and arent laying nice and flat like others I see here. They appear fine from above but from the side you can see how bulky they are. Also some of the strands are developing knob like structures on the end of them and one now has a seperate white fuzzy colony growing beside it. What do you think?
I think they are strange and suspicious for sure. I've seen shit like that happen.

I'm not bod but I'd say yes, you can separate it. That's the whole beauty and point of agar. It just depends on how desperate you are. You might have to work for it a little. I'd give up on most of those but I have a whole slew of others to choose from. So, throwing a few out isn't a thing for me.
and, wasting jars is a bitch. I'd probably make another transfer or two before grain.

I made some of these a year ago but I like working with glass more (just preference) so I adapted this tek to some wide mouth 1/2 pints

I literally got my glad plastic mini rounds at the supermarket today. I got 8 of them for 2.99. Sometimes they are out or not easy to spot among all the other dishes because they are packaged in rectangular packaging. They are usually in the isles where they keep paper plates and cups. Try a few different markets. I just learned recently that you can use any similar plastic containers as long as they have a number 5 on the bottom.
Also I went to the Indian market and had a hell of a time finding the telephone brand Agar. The guy in the store didn't know what it was and seemed offended when I said it was something used in Asian cuisines to thicken desserts. Did I say something wrong by calling Indian food Asian cuisine or was he just offended by the fact that I exist? Also they had mountains of white rice flour but no BRF. Looks like I'll have to go check the hipster market.

white rice won't hurt. technically Indian is Asian but I can see how it might be offensive.

You weren't wrong. He's the one who cant connect the dots that India is in Asia and he's the Indian.
BRF is sold in major supermarkets. Not Walmart or those store though.
Agar will be in health markets but will be expensive as fuck. Much cheaper online on amazon or something.

Oh I found it at the store. He just didn't know what it was. I found it in the drink mix area oddly enough. It's hard to tell because things aren't organized the same way there as they are in our markets. It was the big supermarket style Indian Market so I knew they had to have it and I just walked up and down every isle till I got lucky and spotted the telephone brand package.n Also I'm glad they had nutrition facts in English stating it had no sugar. The directions are a bit lost in translation and could easily be misconstrued. "Mix 1gm of Agar Agar powder with water includes sugar."

In addition to 1 cup of water in my 23Q Presto, is it OK to add a tablespoon of white vinegar as I would normally do when PC'ing grains?

I always use vinegar in my PC. No matter what I'm PCing.

If you're running a 23q pc tho I'd use more then 1 cup of water in the bottom of it. I usually use 3 quarts for agar, 4 for grains in my pc. Then about a 1/4 cup of vinegar

Ah, OK, I was under the impression that you didn't actually need that much water if you're doing just pasty plates. Will be sure to use more!

Another possibly silly question... Does it matter if you use mason jars as spacers with their opening facing up or down?

Use the lids, not the jars. Glass jars can crack if they are touching the bottom of the pc.
