Still having trouble getting away from contam. I transfered a week ago but then I was out of town. I only made two transfers. The og plates are on the left, transfer on the right.
Plate A

Plate B

Found some older plates that had contam but now have pins. What's the best way to transfer pin?

Either remove it whole, take a piece of tissue or take a transfer from the sector it's growing on and put either of those on a new plate.

Can I drop another plate on top of another for and agar sandwich, or should I just use a piece of agar. Also how do you transfer away from the sandwhich, without transferring contam?

You could use a tiger drop with it, but I just cut a big circle.
With my glad rounds there is less area to work with, and sometimes the bacteria creeps out the edges of the dropped wedge. If that happens I find it has a hard time climbing the edge of the dropped wedge which gives time for clean myc to grow through. So once it does I usually use a loop to scrape some of the clean myc off the top, being careful not to dig into the agar. This often does quite nicely.

Think something like a paper clip. I used a wire from a burned out dehydrator twisted and placed in an exacto handle.

Has anybody cased their agar?
I had an old small plate I had transferred from and today put some moist verm on it. The idea would be to get fruits to then clone, not as a means of getting any sort of yield. Of course some have got pins on the agar as is, and clone those, but I wondered if there may have been some potentially great plates that did not pin, but would have if cased. Also as you may go on to case later it might be better to get one which can be seen to perform well when cased. I would expect the shrooms that do grow might get a fair bit bigger and it might be easier to select between several ones growing, i.e. easier to see which looks better.

I did it with agar and with a brf paste plate. Coir verm casing. Both did fruit tho I have yet to see how well the clones did.

were the fruits bigger than ones that pin on regular plates? I thought I would need some grains or rice in it alright. Or else a higher than normal nutrient content and pour more in than usual too.
My plate was the original one that spores dropped onto, so it could have contams. I would be better off transferring off it and then casing the resultant ones.
I cased in open air too, I figure as the entire plate was covered in myc it might be OK.

Cased (cvg) pasty plate.

Cased cornmeal mush plate, made the same way just different container.

I don't have the mature picture of the first plate. I never cloned them.

That was the surface of the mush plate before casing. The mycelium colonized about an eighth of an inch deep into the mush and started pulling up like that, then it knotted up.

looks like a goddamned cactus! wow. Crazy how it folded upon itself. Never seen that with any plates. I've only done agar and brf though.

The fruits were a little bigger but not significantly. It was also done with ms so very uncontrolled. I also cased in open air, I just waited for the food coloring to be consumed so I knew there was no uncolonized media available.
