the best one i ever saw was called "dino scope" i think. it was USB.
not really necessary to identify contaminants, but i suppose it could help.
they use scopes in myco labs more so for breeding monokaryons, not so much for making clean spawn.

Sure do, if I forgot to mention it in the writeup thats something i should change
I think I read something about this but I am always worried about contams without a flowhood. I guess I could just screw the caps into my new sab though and it should be fine.

He's doing it before he puts it in the pc. he pours it into the mini round and lets it sit before putting the lid, paper towel and then tinfoil around it. then after it gets opened in the sab.

Pasty, do you boil the mixture? How long? I'm a cook/foodie and I follow recipes, mostly. I couldn't get this to work until I got a good boil going and after adding the dry ingredients, simmered at a low boil for 5 minutes. This is the way I'd cook anything that needed to combine and solidify. The five minutes is important, I believe.
Still the best tek for agar, as we all use it.

Dude, that's really cool and really affordable.
Thanks!

I simmer it for 5 min before spooning out. This lets it set up before I wrap and makes handling easier.

It matters but I'm pretty sure they do a little bit of simmering in the PC too while you raise pressure.

Yes, true, and at least one of mine will collapse. However, I make my plates and then let them cool and solidify before I put the tops on. If it hasn't absorbed all the liquid, they tend to have mucho condensation. Hell, I can't see all that well anymore anyway, and don't really know yet what I am seeing, so I need all the help I can get.
I never found out how long to cook from any agar tek. I figured it out myself. As if that was any great feat.

Yeah, I've got some serious agar and petri study to do tommorrow starting early. Hoping I don't get called in.
Does anyone remember what level of magnification Bodhi uses for those microscopy photos?

That's interesting. I put the caps on while they're still more or less liquid and stack em up in the PC. I get a little condensation but not much. It always goes away.

Hi, can a different kind of agar be used? I can't seem to find the brand showed in the tek anywhere.

Thanks. I'm actually familiar with that brand. I've seen it used to make jello type desserts, haha.
