I have been using tyvek on all my jars for a long time with no negative effects personally form it. Some jars have been going for 4 years now on the original tyvek. Just tyvek envelopes to boot, I have heard paint suits hold up better however I have yet to have a peace of envelope go bad thus far so if it is not broke, don't fix it.
My only concern is how well the silicone will adhere to the glad plastic.
W8 no 2nd concern, since the hole is so small and the filter is so tiny it was hard not to smear some silicone on the topside of the filter, I was really careful by the time I got to the last one I made, I just hope the other 3 can still breath lol.
funny though, when I first saw this tek back in 13 I wrote it off as a joke because I had already melted lots of plastics in my pc in the past.
Who knew I would now be giving it a go.

Went ahead and ordered some micropore tape for this tek. Ive been a tyvek user for years but the tape was only 1.50. And this looks a hell of a lot easier than petri's. Found the agar at my local Korean grocery.
Waiting for the shipment now The videos were also very helpfull

It sticks just fine I was using these instead of jars for a while since someone gave me a whole set as a gift. the big ones held about the same as a quart.

Quick question on agar its self as a thickening agent does it work similar to corn starch? what I mean is can you tell how thick as it is going to end up? I cook for a living so I'm pretty familiar with how things work like this I just had never used agar.
nevermind like a dumbass I can just follow the tek and just devide up the ingredients into the portion I'll need.

Yes, both are polysaccharides, but agar is derived from seaweed. In cooking, its used more as a stiffener, like gelatin, than a thickener like flour or corn starch.

Agar is more closer to jell-o than starch.
And I have a restaurant background too.
Agar is actually used as a jell-o like dessert in Japan and other Asian countries.

About 6 months ago, made apricot vegan candy out of the NOW brand agar-agar, apricot juice concentrate (vegan), and coconut butter. They were ok taste-wise. Got you pretty ripped though. Well worth the effort.

You can do this type of no-pour agar tek with glass half pint wide mouthed, or those half pint squat jars that are wide mouthed, and regular grain jar lids. Been meaning to write that tek, but have been sidetracked with this whole grain water culturing technique phenomenon.
The later style of jar described above is preferred by this researcher due to the larger surface are of the bottom of the squat jars over the regular half pints standard averagely used with BRF cakes. More room for the myce to run.

There is already at least one no pour tek that uses glass jars. I've used both and PP5s are far superior IMO.

Yep, I pretty much used ever jar and plastic container before I settled on these. The ziploc pop tops are a close second to the glad mini rounds, but I have yet to find a glass jar I like and I tried them all, half pints, quarter pints, fancy jelly jars, baby food jars, you name it. All my opinion of course, preference is half of the hobby

Hasn't a no-pour tek with plastic been done before too though?
I have a no-pour glass jar tek with a unique modification though.
Plus, who's done the glass no-pour tek using the end of the boil-cycle grain water technique?
Plastic being preferred over glass is a matter of personal preference for sure.
Like your new Avatar a lot, BTW. Nice.

I been using high nute grain soak water as a means of getting invitro fruits on agar to pop up long before I started this tek. When combined with my mini rounds, invitro pins are almost guaranteed
One of my first invitro fruits done in a widemouth glass half pint
