It seems better to just use a jar if you wanna no pour.
"Study: Most Plastics Leach Hormone-Like Chemicals."
Study: Most Plastics Leach Hormone-Like Chemicals. Makers of water bottles, including Camelback, now sell products that don't contain BPA, a chemical that can mimic the sex hormone estrogen. But a new study says that even if they don't contain BPA, most plastic products release estrogenic chemicals. Mar 2, 2011

"As scientists become more aware of the chemicals that leech out of plastics and make their way into our bodies, they are uncovering a variety of health issues that result. This includes cancer, reproductive issues, immune system suppression and problems with childhood development just to name a few."

Another thing to consider is the outgassing of most plastics;
"Outgassing can be significant if it collects in a closed environment where air is stagnant or recirculated."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outgassing
"Most plastics are made by a process called "free-radical polymerisation" in which small molecules are joined together into long chains. Although the small molecules (things like styrene and vinyl chloride) are highly toxic, the long molecules made by joining hundreds or thousands of them together (polystyrene and polyvinylchloride (PVC)) are non-toxic. At high enough temperatures, however, the free-radical polymerisation reaction goes in the opposite direction; instead of small molecules joining together to make big ones, the big ones break down to give off the poisonous small ones."

It also seems like it might be a bit difficult to observe the growth through the lid and detect any contaminates readily and early on.

Good, I never said anything about it. . .
People charge you $20 for shipping? Free shipping if you order enough stuff from amazon. 5 bucks for 20 of them, how much do you pay for your little containers?

These ones are twice as much, which is half the amount for the same price:

I have done as many as 10 runs with the same containers. Sometimes I get a bad batch that don't last as long. I'd say an average of 5 runs would be fair. That works out to 40 plates for $4. Since I started with these I could not say how many times I have done these, but I am doing about 25-30 a month.
Where did you buy those at?

What grocery store and For how many of them?
I guess if you can reuse them you might save a bit, but I hate cleaning plastic that has been melted with agar and nutes stuck in the sides.
I used to use pyrex because I thought it would be cheaper in the long run, but really it seems more of a hassle when I could do better things that clean up all the dishes, plus those would take up quite a bit more space. Space is money too.

Clean cultures aren't obtained using materials that leech chemicals into your agar, IE hot tupperware.
I doubt your rubbermaid rounds are an exception.

Just google it there are hundred of links.
I'd recommend using the same procedure with a small mason jar if you can't afford petri dishes.

That would be off topic, but I would be happy to PM you my success mating mating monokaryotes to dikaryotes if you're really interested.
The point previously made and the topic at hand is pressure cooking agar in plastic containers.

Well, you would need a spectrometer to determine whether or not the mycelium uptake the chemicals leeched from the plastic.
You can look in my pics if u want.

Please stay on topic, you are a mod after all.
It's my right to challenge your tek, and I choose to do so, that's what makes shroomery great!

The point is easily found on google, which is that plastics leech harmful chemicals when exposed to excessive heat, excessive heat being as low as boiling water.
I'm done arguing with you anyways, I just wanted to make sure people are aware of any possible health hazards involved in using your tek.
And the misdirection and shifting of the topic to me is a fallacy, and not very good way to debate. It's even boarder line ad hominem, when I provide evidence of others research, so my integrity or techniques are not the question.

According to this thread the unicorn bags don't use BPA.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/16582187
But if they did contain BPA and you became sterile and you showed causality, you could sue them.

We're not concerned with ppm dude and no ones interested so take a hike
This is open forums last I checked. You take a hike.
If everyone just followed suit and didn't question anything we would all be mindless drones . . . .

Good thing the mini rounds I use in my tek don't have BPA either
https://www.glad.com/faq/
Perhaps you should quit trolling this thread and board before I tire of your antics. Go make your oven tek work and take a pic when it does.
Yeah dude, it says on the site do not use them in the oven:
"We do not recommend the using Glad wraps, bags, or GladWare containers in the oven. Glad OvenWare is specifically designed for gas ovens, convection ovens and conventional ovens, though the lid is not designed for use with conventional ovens. We recommend that you place a cookie sheet underneath when cooking. Read more at https://www.glad.com/faq/#cYzkledu7L8AiKlT.99"
I'm sure that applies to pressure cookers as well, and I didn't see any no BPA link.
