Bunch 'a Fluff

Hey all, thanks for reading. A friend has several bags ordered from a reputable sponsor, and inoculated with spores from a reputable sponsor. my friend mashed the bag at 30%, and all have finished colonozing. However, they've been done colonizong for about two weeks. they're in 12/12 light cycle with day light bulbs and apx 72 degrees. Not only are there no pins, my friend can't even see knotting starting to take place. instead, there is nothing but fluffy white myc. There is no arial myc so i don't think they're lacking air. There is no blueing, so i don't think its lacking moisture. The substrate is very well colonized, but it just keeps making fluffy white myc that looks like rlling hills, no knots or pinning. i think maybe my friend just needs patience but this sure seems like a long time to not even see knotting. He's getting nervous. he's going to give it another two weeks and then attempt to dunk them. question is, what the hell is going on? Is this normal, should he be doing something or just give it time? And how much time? Here is the best pic he could get. Its what all the bags look like from the top. no discoloration or signs of contam. best pic he could get but it really is what all look like.

Is he giving them FAE or just leaving the bag closed hoping it will fruit?

Depends on what you mean by open. If you mean did he break the bags seal, no. if you mean have they been in a position to extend fully when gas begins to build up, yes. They still haven't begun to puff up near the top where the filter is. but he's seen plenty pictures of air starved substrate and the arial myc it produces, and thats not what's happening.

You need to get that thing out of the bag ond put it in a FC.
It needs fresh air....

I assume the bag has a gas exchange patch? If so it can be fruited in the bag.. ive fruited in the bag first flush many times. However if you take it out and dunk it, then place it in a sgfc you will get a much better yield than bag fruiting though.. an you will have to put em in a sgfc after the first flush anyways..

Even if you wanted to fruit it in the bag you should open it up, FAE is the #1 pinning trigger and while it's closed there's no way for that CO2 to get out or air to get in.

I dont understanding erstand the suggestions....this is a myco bag designed for invitro fruiting. do they fail to provide enough air for pinning often? How are we sure thats what's happening?

What does a GE patch have to do with fresh air?

And to "fruit" it you must give it fresh air....it is the number one pinning trigger.....
Cut slits in the bag, or poke a bunch of 1/4" holes, or take it out and place it in a fruiting chamber.
It is still in colonizing conditions.....

Fresh air is not something the bag just does....this is something you have to do....

Many sponsors sell em for fruiting in the bag, and they will fruit in the bag without opening it, but i would suggest putting it in a sgfc if you want to get 5x the yield or more of fruiting in the bag.
Before getting a pc i used to use the grain based mycobags and it was nothing to get a dry oz flush from the one pound bags when i took em out of the bags and into a fruiting chamber..
