I live in a country where the biggest television channels are public broadcast. They are funded by television licence fees which are mandatory if you own a television set, regardless of whether you watch public broadcast or not. I think the BBC does something similar.

If you don't have a TV in England they send someone round to search your house.
Fuck Tv and it's propaganda and commercials.

Yeah, I have a 70" 3d LED and the most incredible 7.1 home theater of anyone I know.
It's awesome.

I go to sleep with the TV in the bed room on every night and have for years. I just like the back ground noise. . . .

Our license fee pays for the BBC, there's no commercials and they make shows like Planet Earth and Top Gear. A lot of people think it's good value for money. You are allowed a TV but you're not allowed to watch live broadcasts without paying a fee. They'll come round if you don't have a license.
The BBC has a liberal bias, they're rebel supporters in Syria, they're pro EU, pro immigration, and they're selective about what news they report. They won't report the full extent of GCHQ snooping for example.
There's a split between people who support the BBC and those that don't with strong opinions on both sides.

what do you guys think? i'm sick of specifically picking what i want to watch.
A TV will make you less sane. I don't have one either, I threw mine away about 3 years ago. It takes a year or a little longer to wake up from the TV induced coma. But if I do want to watch something special or a movie I simply download it and watch it on the computer. I'm actually a much happier person without a TV. You should turn off the radio too, if you have one. If you tune out for a year or two when you tune back in you realize that you've been talked to like a kindergardner and how manipulated you were. Radio will seem like mindless chatter that you won't want to listen to. In short tuning out takes you off the propaganda control grid and you learn how to form your own opinons and thoughts. People who watch TV and listen to raddio do nothing but parrot back what they hear and believe the rediculous lies and propaganda they are exposed to. Better to rid yourself of that rubbish for good.

I usually torrent tv shows I want to watch or use netflix. I do have a couple of digital tv tuners for the computer but they're not hooked up. We have two CRT TVs but neither is set up to pick up broadcasts, one's hooked up to the Wii for Netflix and the other is a VCR for kids' movies. Everything else is computer monitors.
Digital OTA TV is pretty cool but I think the antenna needs to be pretty high in my location to get good reception.

I do not have a tv. I got rid of mine when I moved 2 years ago. I was trying to hook the digital converter box into the digital antenna and the dvd player. I realized I was trying to splice all these cables into a tv with fake wood panels on the sides. I said screw it and threw it into the dump.
Last month I was at a bonfire. I happened to say 'I do not have a TV' after for the 10th time somebody started a sentence with 'Man, did you see #$%@#$%#@$%@#$%#$% last night, or last week, or whatever'......One guy was so shocked and confused that he tried to take up a collection for my wife and I.
My wife's grandmother wants to get us a TV because she feels bad that we do not have one. We told her we could get more use out of a king bed.
It confuses me when people assume I am less fortunate or think I am above other people because I do not have a TV. I would rather spend money on beer brewing equipment or travel than to sit in my home. I would rather identify birds and rocks than to know the stats some person has on a sport team.....

I have a TV in just about every room.
A 32" flat panel in the living room, a 27" crt in the.. well room where my computer is (family room?) and one in the bed room.
Only the living room TV is hooked up to an antenna so I can watch local news in the morning and evening. Other than that it streams TV shows over the internet and is hooked up to a Wii and xbox360. The other one is hooked up to a PS2 whith a steering wheel so I can drive drunk on Gran Tourismo 3 and 4 and the one in the bedroom is hooked up to a computer so i can go to sleep watching Simpsons, Seinfeld, South Park, Family guy and other show, playing on random.
When the big TV sales happen in a couple months I will probably buy a bigger TV for the living room and put the 32" one in the bedroom hooked up to a rasberry pi instead of my noisy computer on the other side of the wall.

My girlfriend and I don't own a TV, and I'm proud of it. My roommate has one in the living room of our house, and I'll admit to watching some trashy shows now and then while drunk, but in general TV's an utter waste of time IMO. I'd much rather catch good television series after they've been aired and I can torrent them in their entirety to watch on my computer, without being subjected to mindless commercials or being tempted to channel surf while bored and settle on some mindless programming that will only lower my IQ in the long run.
