    #1920699 - 09/16/03 06:43 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Does anybody have experience with different CMS? Which one would you recommend?

Use it for a private mushroom information site.

I find using a forum software (i recomend IPB (free for personal and non-comercial sites) ) for a backend and then use their code to pull info from the database and format it how you like (basicly a real good reskin, not just color changes) or using some kind of portal for a start page to work pretty decent for smaller sites that also want message boards.

But i belive your asking for variations of software like phpnuke?

theres also
http://typo3.com/

im installing typo3 right now... ill let ya know how it is...

Typ0 3 was alright, a little too complicated though... its concept is pretty simple but figuring out all the little icons sucked.

Then i tried drupal other then its fairly gay sounding name, it apears to be really quite powerfull. Some have said they couldnt use their 25 years of computer software development experience and couldnt figure it out, but if youve spent any time on slashdot pretty much everything makes sence... i still playing with that today... i may use it for a website im going to need to come up with... then update their other couple websites to use this software.. one of the neater things about the software is if you set it up to run certain jobs it will regester you at the main site then your username and info will work on any other drupal sites (at least while i was reading the features this was one of em, i havnt quite enabled it nor do would i for any personal sites, but the others ill be developing ill be sure to play with it...

After all the playing with the different systems, I think I?ll go with SPIP.
