Storing mushrooms?
    #19205747 - 11/29/13 05:39 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Was thinking of trying to get ahold of some shrooms but I won't plan on taking them for probably a good month or two. Will they be ok just sitting in a ziplock baggie in my drawer? Will they go bad or lose potency?

I put mine in a Baggie then throw it into my fridge and they don't lose much potency. But if you're gonna wait a month or 2 you're gonna lose a lot of potency man.

Longer term storage is best done in glass with some form of desiccant to wick up any moisture that may get into the jar. Store the jar in a cool, dark place. Good for at least a year.

Ziplock baggies can breathe and some air will get into the bag eventually. Damp air can rehydrate the mushrooms and lower potency. If only using the bag then throw in some desiccant and they should be fine for a couple of months.

yeah, jars are best, I suggest once their dry to store them in the jars you inoculated, a piece of tape over any holes will secure them airtight .

I like latch lid jars for one major reason, im lazy, screwing a lid back on takes time and I tend to leave jars open, I instinctively close latch lid jars because I got yelled at for not closing the sugar jar all the time when I was a kid.

Whatever you do, don't store them in the freezer semi-dry. I did that recently and barely got any effects from 4g of normally potent shrooms.

A month or two in a ziplock will see pretty much no loss of potency.  Mason jar is better tho
