The 100 Days No Drug Of Choice Challenge ((COMING CLEAN: POST YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS HERE)) * 1
    #19203795 - 11/29/13 07:03 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I used to say to people who were wondering if they were having psychological habituation or addiction issues:  "If you want to be sure, go on a 100 day drug hiatus and see how easy or hard it is."

Me personally, I've recently been using Methoxetamine fairly often so I decided in September to take my own advice and go on a 100 day drug hiatus off of :mxe:

The first weeks were somewhat unpleasant but then it was  Lately I've been somewhat more stable psychologically and more grounded in consensus rerality, as can be expected. I'm more comfortable not doing much of anything whereas MXE tended to push me towards goal directed activity.  Seems I was somewhat habituated but not addicted.

December 20, right before christmas I'm counted out and did my 100 days.
:christmas:

100 days without your Drug Of Choice

Many of you will recoil in shock.  No way!  Unthinkable!

But is anyone of you, after No Shave November and the No Fap Challenge, willing to foresake their drug of choice, or a drug they use frequently, for 100 days?

Make your vows here and keep us posted of your progress in this thread.

HAVE YOU GOT THE TESTICULAR FORTITUDE TO DO 100 DAYS SOLDIER?! :warcry:

Break a habituation pattern.
Accomplish a feat of endurance.
Give your body & mind a break.
Revert tolerance.
Save money.
Do it.

At first I thought "well fuck, that's easy.." Then I remembered alcohol is a drug too and I wouldn't be able to go out and drink with my friends.. For 3 months? No drinks for Xmas or new years? Fuck that lol

Although I may try this after new years and not drink till my birthday in march mind you.. Wonder how I'll feel.

I suppose I'd have to give up all psychedelics if I was to take on the challenge.  Seems kind of a cheat to just give up one.

I found some Acacia Confusa bark the other day and was planning on making a nice batch of Ayahuasca on Sunday.  So I'll start after Sunday.  Seems like a pretty good plan:  Monster trip, then one hundred days of sobriety to reflect on the experience.

I'll take on your challenge Wiccan, I'll take it on.

Start date:  December 2, 2013

  End date:  February 30, 2014

100 days? I'm trying to go thousands of days without doing my favorite drug.:faded:

I had wine last night with dinner so I'll have to restart my count. :ashamed:  Good luck people. Sounds like a worthy challenge... :handth: . . . :peace:

I planned on quitting weed for a while last night and if my counting was right 100 days from now is my birthday, so i'll go ahead and give it a try. I don't drink or use any other substance habitually so i guess i'm lucky i'm only quitting weed.

I am taking on your challenge Wiccan. I have to quit anyway. A recent bout with synthetic cannabinoids and 25i-nBOME has left me feeling highly depersonalized, anxious, and perhaps even feeling a bit of brain damage. I was already giving up my drugs of choice, cannabinoids/cannabinomimetics and alcohol, this will just give me extra impetus. Especially since you're my favorite poster. Also, today is a week without cigarettes (though I have been using an e-cig).

Start date:

November 29th, 2013

End Date:

March 9th, 2014

I think that's right. My brain is fried so fuck it.

Great things are happening in this thread :awebig:

Apart from the health and self esteem benefits..

1oz of weed in 3 weeks for 100 days saves you a tad over $2000. Picture what you can do with that.

Suggestion: convert your 100 days of no weed to a 100oz bar of silver which you can use as a paperweight until it very likely doubles or triples in value in a few years.

If you are concerned about a potential addiction, then quit your drug of choice completely. 100 days is really nothing, especially if you are going to use right after.

If serious addiction clues exist you are right of course, but to get to facing the realities of your drug use, many need a wake up call to snap them out of their denial. a 100 day drug holiday does that -- if there really is a psychological habituation or addiction issue, the hiatus will bring it to light.

And at day 100 you are freer to decide what to do next than when still in the intensive usage pattern.

I smoked cigarettes like a French whore but after 100 days of abstinence I knew I had it beat.

Man that really is one hell of a challenge and I'll be the first to congratulate you on going the 100 days without touching a single thing.

For me, if it's not one thing, it's always another. Recently it's been GHB that seems to be taking up all my spare time. Each night when I get home from work, rather than pour myself a cold beer or a glass of wine, it's been a large dose of GHB that seems to be keeping me occupied.

100 days without touching a thing sounds like a challenge. In all honesty, I think I'd find it quite hard to stop completely. I'd be lost and not have a clue what to do with myself. But you know what? I quite fancy the challege.

I'll wait it out until after the new year but come January, I'm going to set myself a goal and see if I can go the 100 days without touching anything. It may actually getting me off the couch and into the gym.

When chatting to a work colleague, he was telling me he's only drank once this entire year. I swear the minute he told me, I nearly died. I just can't imagine not touching a single thing!

longer than that. 100 days here i come! probably wont even miss it by then.

This thread could come in handy for me...

I'm 2 days clean from opis (indefinitely)
I'm 7 days clean from cigs!
I'm some # days clean from amps but that'll be broken soon, only to used, and then they're gone, and then I'm done.  No problem there.

It's the dissociatives... (MXE inspired this thread?) I'm high on MXE right now but it's time for me to put down my dissociation compulsion which is probably my worst habit right now.

But I'm going to enjoy the night :mxe: :evil2:

I'll join in, my drug of choice is marijuana and I'm a habitual smoker, I've been on probation for the past few months and I'm surprised I haven't been drug tested yet, I should quit because im facing w pretty hefty jail sentence if i violate, I'd rather be sober and free than sober and locked up. Mu

My quit date will be December 1st, the only drugs I will use will be ones not tested for until April, oh god sounds so far away.

I haven't taken my drug of choice since 2008; that's nearly 6 years! It's MDMA, btw. :raver2: I can't believe it's been that long. Maybe I should get some? This thread is counter-productive, at least for me. Hmmm, but I would like to participate in this thread. I don't smoke , so I guess I'll quit alcohol for 100 days, even though I don't drink very often anyway. I haven't tripped in a while, so there's no way I'm gonna give up psychedelics. I've already taken my hiatus from them for too long!

i could probably do this and have done this before, but just not at this time of year. summertime, 3 weeks of annual leave across new years eve and christmas coming up, its not realistic. but after new years im pretty confident i could easily go 100 days without using any droogs

100 days without drinking would definitely be a bit of a test

Been a month since I did a good slam of meth.

Been tough.

But it's all in the mind with stimulants. It's all in the mind. Once you realize that it's no big deal.

I went from every day, wake and bake stoner and quit. It's possible. I haven't bought a bag for eight months and I'd like to keep it that way.

I'm trying out Moonshoe's system now.

well I'm doing the 100 day challenge anyway. so far so good folks. Feeling pretty good. Getting work done. Looking forward to the end of the semester. 30 page and 2 presentations left to churn out and I'm home free. this would be much harder if I were stoned. I've also been getting a lot more reading done than I would be if I were smoking.

This book is FUCKING AMAZING. Currently on Ch. 3:

definitely but my memory is still what it used to be. I will give it more time. There was a time when I had 10 months sober about 4 years ago when I could organize a 5 minute speech in my head on the spot, remember it, and deliver it on cue. I hope I can get back to that

on another note i am finding i have a lot more ability to focus on things i am reading now, not to mention time to do it. i am learning a lot about brain chemistry and cognition

I'm almost in on this, totally afraid of committing,. I'm on my 4th day with no weed. I'm quitting for the right reasons this time, it drags me down in every facet of my life. I just need to train myself to sleep earlier then i'll be ok.

If i succeed i'll be drug free after 19 years of getting hammered on this and that.

I think I have done more than 100 days in past, just because I cannot get drugs in my country, and I am usually broke. Maybe that is good, because I get easily psychologically addicted to things/people/drugs.  Good luck to everyone who is up to this challenge though.

Well I guess since this got bumped I'll update my own post.

2+14= 16 days clean from opis (no sweat)
2.5 days clean from dissos (some sweat, i'm proud of this)
2 days clean from amps (only to be broken again, but don't plan to use more when i run out)
~18 hours clean from cigs (tobacco cessation fail, dammit)

Was doing really well with no tobacco, I mean really I still am actually, I just kinda broke down and had some cigs over the last 3 days.  I think I was clean up until that point.  Hmm...

I like this thread. I think it's a good thing for people who like drugs and want to keep using drugs (like me), but also want to live a little healthier.

But when I think about quitting stimulants for 100 days, fuck that. I'd rather kill myself. My life just isn't worth living without stimulants. Sure, I'm hardcore addicted, but god damn I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Without stimulants, I never do anything. Never. Anything. I'm the most worthless couch potato you've ever seen in your life. It would be 100 days of me sitting around doing absolutely but sitting around watching Netflix.

I'm about seven days off meth.

Not done forever but for the next few months it is not in my best interest to use. There is like a four percent success quitting rate so I am kidding myself if I think I am done yet forever.

All my problems came from  benzo blackouts and that's when i got arrested. No more etizolam but the occasional 5mg valium or whatever is fine.

Shh!  Don't give away the big secret.... shooting dope turns you into a unstoppable Übermensch, not to mention a worldly Wonder-Woman if you're a chick.  I mean, cough cough, drugs are bad... mmmkay?

In other wor(l)ds let's live out AC's Diary of a Drug Fiend w/ the exception of the last third and drown ourselves in a whirlwind romance of drugs, sex and fantastically magickal oblivion :smile2:

I FAILED

A few days ago a friend of mine came to visit and got fucked out of his fuck on 15 beers and 2 grams of weed.  I decided that, since I had NO craving and there was a week left to the 100 day challenge, I might as well and whipped out the Methoxetamine.

So, I failed, a week before 100 days.

Hang in there kitties!

I did a light taper with methadone to come off it.. It started at like 20mg methadone and was tapered for 7 days and it was relatively painless compared to other times I've detoxed. I'm not on anything now for it. I stopped 2 weeks before going into treatment so it was sort of a non factor. The hardest part has been getting my brain back to baseline.

Yeah its difficult man.. I know exactly what you're going through. The hardest thing for me to do is figure out what pains that I'm having are contrived and which ones are legit.

I am often times in Chronic pain and the only thing that works for me is kratom.. Certainly I could use regular opiates and for a short period they could mask the pain better but that comes with far more consequences. It mainly comes down to pros and cons. That goes for almost anything but as I said in the WCA thread for me personally if I go too far one way and don't deal with the pain in some sort of fashion, I often times relapse much harder and much worse than if I had just done as little as I could to deal with the pain without letting that happen.

I do what I want when I want to do it; I think about what I want to think about when I want to think about it, and I think about it well. Thank you, Wiccan.

Since my last post I am:

-1.5 days clean from amps (small slip up, but that's no biggie)
-10 minutes clean from tobacco  too hard for me to quit right now so I'm considering an ecig if I just can't quit tobacco
-LIKE A WEEK OFF DISSOS *PATS SELF ON BACK* LONGEST STREAK WITHOUT THEM IN LIKE 2 MONTHS!  GO ME!

I'm at least really proud of the disso part.  Was losing control a bit with those but then I ran out finally, and, now I'm getting clean from them   I'm sure I'll do them again sometime, but for now, this little break is a very good thing for me!

Good luck to everyone in this thread trying to get themselves better!

 The username is actually a play on words that I made up 12 years ago (half of my life, when I was 12) and joined the Morrowind forums after having wasted over 300 hours playing the game without ever starting the main quest. The name just stuck. So it actually has nothing to do with drugs. My username used to be morrowasted on all forums, but I must admit that I have stolen muistrue's username (but dropped the e) for other forums. In any case I feel that morrowasted is a memorable username so I will probably keep it. Thanks for the offer, though. I will probably get a supporter account in the near future since I have money to blow now.

Might I suggest making this (or something similar) a standing offer for anyone who goes 100 days without their drug of choice? I know that it will cut into the site's already small profits, but think of the benefits to users. We would be encouraging our own users to lead healthier lives.

Anyway, I think this is worth considering. Maybe stickying this thread (or a new thread) with a standing offer of a free name change (or something similar) for people going 100 days without their drug of choice. Of course, there would be requirements like it'd have to be your #1 drug of choice, and you'd have to post at the start of the 100 days (not just at the end).

I think even keeping in mind potential abuse, the potentially positive effect on user's real lives is worth it.

Lurker coming out of lurking to contribute to this one.

Starting January 4th 2014 I'll be giving up alcohol for the remainder of the year. Truth be told I'd consider 100 days a colossal success! The goal is the entire year (hopefully).

For the first time in my life boozing has negatively affected my life. Need to break some habits, escape the never ending cycle of social drinking, and frankly just be serious about life for once.

On a side note...It's been exactly 109 day since my last trip. Think it's almost time to indulge again!

Moderation is key. It's surprising if you take a tolerance break how the magic returns to the experience.

 I did that in Morrowind, too. Not as much as 300 hours but I was level 40 or something when I finally worked up the nerve to talk to that weird shirtless guy in his tweaker pad to start "the real game". Till then it was just traveling, plundering and guild missions.

Honestly that isn't time wasted at all, IMO it really enhances the game to get a good sampling of the game's world before going into its storyline. I wish Oblivion and Skyrim were so immersive. Sigh.

Ever since mentioning this one to the missus, she has done nothing but remind me about it. Looking back, I kinda wish I'd never said a word because she's not one to forget things easily. That and the fact that she knows it would probably do me the world of good.

Come the middle of January, I'm going to give it a go! I kept telling her that I thought it was only for a month but she gladly reminded me that it not for 31 days but rather a 100 days.. d'oh!

Give it a shot. What do you have to lose? It's worth trying.
