I'm only interested in college basketball because the Big 10 looks like its competitive. Tom Izzo is getting a reputation for being on of the up and coming top coaches.

Wait, wut?
Izzo IS one of the top coaches. It's mandatory that I hate Michigan State (I'm a Michigan fan), which I do, but dude. These numbers are ridiculous.
71% win percentage 6 Final Four appearances 7 Big Ten Championships 3 time Big Ten Tournament champions 7 Elite Eight appearances 16 NCAA Tournament berths 2 National Championship appearances 1 National Championship 3 time Big Ten coach of the year 1 time national coach of the year
Tom Izzo is flat out one of the 5 most accomplished coaches in the country. And has been for quite some time now.

SIX final four appearances. Man just getting to one is a lifelong dream memory to have for most coaches...but six? Damn that's impressive.

I'd like to see him in the NBA one day. Do you think he will ever make the jump? Didn't Cleveland try to get him a few years ago?

Yup, I'm pretty sure they had the closest shot at landing him. Negotiations were really serious. But that was the year LeBron entered free agency. Had LeBron been locked up, I bet he would have taken the job.
He always says that he has no intentions of ever going to the NBA but obviously he thinks about it, or else he wouldn't have flirted so hard with the Cavs that year. If the right situation came alone I'm sure he'd at least listen.

Thats the crazy thing about College basketball a coach will actually turn down an offer from the NBA.
Most football coaches would cream at the thought of their own NFL team.

That's kinda funny with the way the NCAA Basketball system is too. Coach K never messed with the NBA I believe right? He coaches the olympic team though

He’s done now. Coaching the Olympic team has got to be the easiest thing in the world. Im pretty sure i could bring home the gold for the stars and stripes That would be the coolest position in sports IMO.

Now that I think about it you're right, but to think he'd rather do those two things throughout his career and never go to the NBA says something I think.

In 2004, the U.S. came in 3rd with a 5-3 record, including being slaughtered by Puerto Rico. Argentina took the gold.
Our roster included Iverson, Marbury, D Wade, Boozer, C. Anthony, Lebron, Stoudemire, Duncan and Odom.
Coached by Larry Brown, assisted by Popovich and Roy Williams
NBA players are probably the most selfish of pro sports, and there is no guarantee that they can be motivated to play what is essentially an exhibition for no money, for the honor of their country.

Thats not that good of a team. Iverson and Carmelo together there isn’t enough time in 4 games for how many times those dudes would want to shoot.
Whats funny is that was back when Stoudemire, Odom, Marbury, Iverson and the booze were good enough to somehow make a Olympic roster. The best player on that team was D.Wade by far.
The 2012 team was fucking awesome.
