you should try and harvest everything you can get to. Dont worry the pins will not rot if their left behind, but will revert back to mycelium in time.. this is how we clone pins to agar with success

You gotta at least try man . Im sure you can find either brf or whole grain brown rice and grind yourself, along with half pint jars amd vermiculite in your area.. why not just biy shrooms on the street if your not interested in cultivating your own from sceatch? Its waaay cheaper and you dont meed a pc to start.. just steam sterilize for at least 90 min in a big pot.. and do a search for proper spore printing onto foil or into sterilized jars.. its all alot eadier than you think.. just have a little confidence in yourself and follow the pf tek to a T.. dont take shortcuts.. its so rewarding when.you grow shrooms from jars/bags you made yourself! Good luck man

Josh, if you think leaving mushroom flesh behind is not a problem, then why does everyone say to get all of the mushroom out/make sure to picks aborts? Bc they will rot over time and dont always become food for mycelium growth..rotting flesh is decomposing.. and decomposition will eventually lead to bacteria.. especially during later flushes. he already blew way too much loot on a shitty kit, migjt as well do things right and get the most out of it..

Use tweezers to grab any bits of fruit flesh that break off down in the sides.. if its one solid block cake just carefully dump it out and clean any aborts/stem pieces off before dunking for the second flush.. and next time around at least order some presterilized mycbags and inject spores in em.. you could buy 18+ half pound brf bags for the price of your kit..and fruit them right in the bag.. if you keep buying grow kits people will flame you and just be all around disrespectful bc your not putting any effort in buying low qaulity/high priced grow kits..

juss cause ..or maybe cause the aborts are most potent by weight..thats why i like em anyways..
not sure if this was brought up here..twisting/pulling or cutting bases, but if its up to me i rather cut at the bases leaving stumps to revert, (not every mushroom needs to be cut thou, some just nearly fall off when bent to side to side) opposed to ripping chunks outta the substrate, witch IME open the door for contams to take foothold there..

Personally, i feel that leaving flesh to rot on cakes/casings/tubs is more likely to cause contams than twisting a shroom off and uprooting some substrate..bc if your doing things properly your cakes should be fully colonized and consolidated, so if you expose new substrate by pulling a shroom off then the newly exposed substrate will be colonized and therefore contam resistant..
and the potency of aborts has nothing to do with wether it will contam or not.. aborts are very potent usually, but potency has nothing to do with cakes getting contaminated, it doesnt matter how much psilocybin/psilocin is in your cakes or mushrooms, it will not deter contams when given a chance to contaminate an area..

I have however seen thousands of grows ruined by green mold which starts in the divot caused by ripping out a chunk of substrate. RR

Usually, twist and pull leaves divots in the substrate which are prime breeding grounds for mold spores to germinate, ruining the whole substrate. If it can be done without ripping out substrate it's fine, but most of the time that isn't the case, thus it's best to use a very sharp knife or razor to cut the mushrooms off at the base. Some growers even use thread or fishing line to wrap around the base and then pull the ends to cut off the mushroom stem. RR

Mesqalin- i find teezers work awesome if you have aborts or pieces of mushie flesh left in the cake, its easier to grab broken off stem pieces with a pair of tweezers than fingers/finger nails

NaH, its just what i read many, many times on here, and have seen areas of cakes bruise really bad where a small oiece was left in the substrate, but never had a contam from it.. but i can count the amount of times i left a piece of mushie after harvesting on a cake on one hand

Actually what does cutting from the base means that RR said ?
If i cut them from the base then there will be lots of roots left.. Because how they grow they are like in bulks.

Mushrooms do not have "roots"....not sure about the second part of this comment either.....

There shouldnt really be any "roots" or parts of the mushrooms if you harvest em in a proper manner. by the time you get done with your first harvest you will have a good feel of how they should be harvested..

If you cut them off like a lot of people, yes, there will be stumps, not roots. And no, the stumps will not rot. Believe NAH. He knows what he's doing.

I always stand corected when nah says something different than my answer.. i just feel it is good practice to pick as much of the mushroom off as possible.. like i said, ive never had contams from leaving a piece, but it has caused terrible bruising and musbrooms didnt grow from the spot where a piece of stem was left..
