How would you rate presidential performance since 1964. Why?
    #19201487 - 11/28/13 04:28 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Since 1964, in order here is how I view them;

LBJ:  Horrible.  Perpetuated the Vietnam war--for what?

Nixon:  Horrible:  Liar, Crook bring on the inflation!

Ford: Fair: Did a decent job for someone no one elected.

Carter:  Incomptetent.  Complete, unmitigated disaster when his administration 'hit the ground stumbling:  Rampant inflation, poor economy, loss of US leadership role in world affairs.

Reagan:  Fair:  Stabilized the economy at the expense of deficits.  Good at foreign policy.

Bush 1: An Idiot.  His only claim to fame is the Gulf War.  And he bungled that one by not finishing the job.

Clinton:  Fair.  the economy was good, no real disasters on his watch.  Knew how to work the other side of the aisle to keep things moving ahead.  His only real low point was that he got caught getting a blow job from a fat girl.

Bush 2: Fair to Shitty as his presidency progressed.  OK for first term, but he was a big, big govnerment progressive, as was clearly exposed in his second term.  Spent too much, focused his attention on the wrong areas.  Not so far different from the progressive ideology as people might think.

Obama:  A bumbling, incompetent ideologue.  Do I really need to explain how I feel about this assclown?

I would rate them:

Clinton 1
Reagan 2

And the rest of them were shit.

An interesting point:  Among all of the presidents, I believe it was clinton and reagan who understood the realities of economics the best, and that is why they were successful for a large part.

Why since 1964? Dude I think John F Kennedy was a total fucking moron

One of the few presidents who got shot while driving through Dallas of all places, must have been a real ass hole for someone to take the trouble of going all the way to Dallas to shoot him. What did he do no other president has? There was no huge pile of government debt under John F Kennedy?

By the way I was born in 1984 so half those presidents I have no clue how they performed as I was either too young or not even born yet. By the way, Clinton pushed the mortgage regulations that forced just about any idiot to be allowed a mortgage, now ruining it for everyone else, more then any other president. And I seriously question his foreign policy in Africa, allowing a handful of black hawk helicopters to initially go in practically by them self to try and take down an entire regime of thousands of African soldiers to get Mugabe or whatever his name is. Really sad, I'll give you that compared to Obama and Bush he is damn Jesus Christ, but by no means have I seen any proof that Clinton was a good president, if anything he just stood more out of the way enough to allow things to do pretty well with a little less government interference.

Not a spectacular president by any means, the regulations that were pretty much ripping up this country at that point I don't see him going extremely far out of his way to try and get rid of

I left JFK out because I purposely didn't want to explain why I thought he was a douchebag.

Fair enough. Not really sure I've heard a good argument swaying him towards being a huge douche bag ever at all. Most people seem to put him on some pedestal that he is a great hero. Honestly I think he is just a martyr for a cause, since he is dead, he must have been doing something right that no president can compete with him over, is what most people seem to argue him in favour of.

Btw, you know why I always spell favor as favour? Because shroomery has some English version spell check for some reason

Why would that colour your argument?  :rofl2:

Actually, your statement is more in line with what I think about JFK.  he didn't really do anything, he is just somehow great because he was killed during his presidency.

Kind of like Obama is great because his skin is black.

Check this out:

Most overrated presidents

* George Washington: From "lmeert" -- "It pains to say this but I'm going to go with Washington. He's a deified figure and surely that's a bit much for any president. I understand why we love him, just not sure his record warrants to be right at the top."

* Thomas Jefferson: From "Thomas Alan" -- "By far, the most overrated of the Founding Fathers, Jefferson could only get off his butt long enough to destroy Hamilton. He managed to win the political battle, but his economic and foreign policies were awful. Having the Louisiana Purchase fall into his lap does not make for a great president."

* Andrew Jackson: From "JonathanNH" -- "He is glorified as the great democrat, but this ignores his record of racism, especially towards native Americans. He ignored the Supreme Court and deported the Cherokee Indians to Oklahoma. He abolished the Second Bank of the United States which help undermine financial instability and exacerbated recessions for the rest of the 19th century. He elevated Roger Taney to Chief Justice for his work in eliminating the Bank. Taney when on to preside over the Dred Scott decision."

* Franklin Roosevelt: From "acre00" --  "I would have to say that FDR is the most overrated president. His New Deal did little to help the Great Depression, and he was a major contributor to the current spending problem that we have today. That being said, I also don't think he was a bad president. He was a good leader, keeping the American People optimistic through the Great Depression and motivated through WW2."

* Ronald Reagan/John Kennedy: From "nyclefty" -- "JFK was a novice and had 2 fairly awful years loaded with foreign policy blunders and rookie mistakes on domestic policy- he finally started to get it together and was killed. He was, however, inspirational. Reagan gets credit for all kinds of things, from the dissolution of the USSR -- which would have happened faster without him -- to the economic prosperity that was simply cyclical -- and was likely a result of a tax-policy that he stood against but was forced to swallow."

There hasn't been a single great president. Just people trying their best to keep a workforce motivated.

The people is what makes a country great, not presidents.

Washington was in the right place at the right time.

He started the first world war(aka the French and Indian/Seven Years War) during which his biggest ambition was to become an officer in the British Army, which he was headed for except Gen Braddock got his ass kicked, but at the time George was sick and in the rear and didn't get scalped.

I agree with you there both about Clinton and Reagan. Reagan had the advantage in that he was good at conveying a benevolent image, like everyone's beloved grampaw.

LBJ:  His great society

Nixon:  :stonedjerk:

Ford: Don't know enough about him other than he was clumsy

Carter:  Obama the first

Reagan: Cost my dad his painting business with amnesty
Oh and the damn drug war BS he spouted.

Bush 1: NO NEW TAXES

Clinton:  Takes credit for Newt's handling of the economy, got a blow job from a fat girl and lied about burning people alive in their house (waco)

Bush 2: Fair to Shitty as his presidency progressed.  OK for first term, but he was a big, big govnerment progressive, as was clearly exposed in his second term.  Spent too much, focused his attention on the wrong areas.  Not so far different from the progressive ideology as people might think.(Agreed)
Patriot act was a mess and Iraq was a mess I might add.

Obama:  A bumbling, incompetent ideologue.  Do I really need to explain how I feel about this assclown?:thumbup::thumbup:

Clinton got lucky with the economy... it wasn't his doing, but he took credit for it.  He also bungled foreign policy with the middle east, allowing resentment to boil that ultimately lead to future wars.  Of course, when compared to LBJ, Carter, and Obama, Clinton looks pretty damn good.

Clinton was such a shit show in his first two years (pre Monica) that the voters gave control of the House of Representatives to Republicans for the first time in decades.  That is the only thing that saves his reputation.  That he got his balls chopped off.
