If helicopters were used as cars (e.g. The Jetsons)

Would that be sustainable?

It would depend on the fuel source

So I take it conventional helicopters would not be sustainable?

And there would be a noise issue too, but aren't there stealth helicopters?

Yes but I don't see it as being very practical offering stealth helicopters for sale to every tom dick and harry that wants to buy one!

Most people have trouble handling driving in two dimensions, never mind three. Imagine traffic congestion cubed. Imagine two flying cars crashing into each other, then the wreckage falling down onto the flying lanes below, then onto the ground.
Also, ecologically/economically, compared to a ground-bound vehicle an airborne one would use more of whatever fuel.
But needless to say it's a necessary step towards the dystopian, dying, rainy, overpolluted inevitable future we all know and love.

astral projection. have the luxury of bodhi staying at hOMe, while mind is at flight seeing the world. no need for insurance, gasoline, nor crash safety devices.

Now, think very deeply. You have a mode of transport that requires 1 or 2 tons of mass to be propelled at a medium speed horizontally. Now you take another mode of transport that requires the same or a bigger mass to be propelled not only rapidly horizontally, but also needs to be lifted vertically. Which of these two do you think is more sustainable?

I batteries become more efficient, I believe that helicopters for travel would be viable. instead of fast and slow lanes,we could use height. The higher you are the faster you can go, the lower the slower (for safety reasons).
Let's say it becomes popular and most people own one, I can already predict a terrible impact on the environment because of all the helicopter fucking up the natural wind speed/cycle of the planet.

That really depends on the costs of roads.
