I am hoping some of the more stock savvy peeps on here can help expose types of bitcoin/cryptocurrency sector stocks available. With the emergence of CC's I figure there will be companies popping up to make them immensely mainstream.

As of now I feel like they are still in their techy stage, but if a middleman can make them available to the public as a part of everyday transactions, that is the company to invest in. Does anyone know of any index funds, or promising leads in this sector yet?

Alright, that's it, I'm buying some LTC. I can't stand to just sit around and watch these climb anymore. I though about buying some when it was $6 and that was a few weeks ago. Do you know of a recommendable exchange? I still need to do my research into how the transactions work and if LTC works similarly to BTC.

Okay, so it looks one way to buy LTC is as follows:

1. Buy BTC at coinbase
2. Create an account at BTC-E
3. Get a bitcoin deposit address in the 'Finances' section at BTC-E
4. Send BTC to the BTC-E bitcoin deposit address in the 'Send/Request' section at coinbase
5. Once the BTC shows up in your BTC-E account, trade it for LTC

I'm only level 1 at coinbase and it looks like there's no way of getting around that without making my first purchase, which I am contemplating pulling the trigger on right now. At level 1 it takes 4 days to receive your BTC, which kinds sucks considering how fast crypto-currency changes. I wonder why they make you wait like this.

After I purchase I suppose it would be prudent to transfer into a BTC wallet immediately before sending the BTC to the BTC-E deposit address. Then from there trade it into LTC at BTC-E then move the LTC into a wallet, plus print it out and move an encrypted copy of the wallet.dat into a dropbox account for safekeeping like you mentioned earlier. Then wait.

$42! My heart just imploded and my stomach did a spin. I missed out on this one so hard. When I started watching LTC at all a week or so ago, it was $8.50. It seems like it's sure to go down but that's what I thought yesterday

how did you deposit funds into crypto trade? every option i tried to choose said they didnt accept US customers. I am currently waiting until DEC 2 for my coinbase BTC to arrive. It said 3 business days so i dunno what happened. Thanksgiving maybe screwed things up.

I bought the BTC thinking I would be trading LTC at $10. Because of this waiting game that has changed completely. I am now thinking about buying another BTC, doing the transfer, and trading my current one for LTC and XPM, on BTC-e. Apparently XPM is the next prospect to make significant growth, and it is currently trading at under $1. I am keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that by the time my BTC arrives XPM will still be around that range. What is really surprising is how fast these prices have risen given mainstream attention/access has still not fully actualized. I cant imagine how fast these things will trade once software is available for everyday button mashers to fund accounts and trade instantly.

I'm in the same exact boat. At this point I'm going to wait until Sunday to place my first coinbase order as it should still be the same turnaround as today would be at this point. Hoping for a mini bubble pop on LTC but I will also be researching other alternates this weekend. Shitty week to finally be ready to jump on this thing. At this point I can't stand to just sit and watch anymore though. (Just started watching crypto two weeks ago and BTC/LTC has gained 400% since.)

Here, here. I feel you.

I didn't buy my coins from crypto-exchange.com. I bought them from someone in the U.S. who uses the bank deposit or wire method.

Selling on localbitcoins.com and litecoinlocal.org, you might be waiting around for a while (the price automatically updates, by the way), but buying should be quick. So, those are options to consider.

My father lives in France, so I think I have an advantage. I'm going to introduce him to crypto currencies.

No one is going to share what you're asking because you are asking others to do all of your research and your speculation for you. Try learning the first thing about how it all works. All the information is at your fingertips. You'll be mining mad coins with your dorm room laptop in no time bro! Not.

I assume there are lots of people in the same boat as I am, when the silkroad was just getting started and bitcoins were ~$10 a coin. If I would have kept my coins, and not bought drugs, I would have over $50,000 worth of bitcoins.

Yeah it happens dude. I have a friend who lost his passkey to 18,000 bitcoins. He was mining from nearly the inception and apparently didnt think much of their value at the time. Hard to feel bad for missing the boat when hes dealing with that weight.

Just remember this is still the infancy the cryptoeconomy. There is still a lot of money to be made. With some collaboration regarding investment ideas there is a potential here to make a handful of wealthy shroomerites.

Litecoin may take over Bitcoin:

One of Litecoin’s most significant claimed improvements over Bitcoin is that it allows transactions to be confirmed as legitimate much more quickly, says Charles Lee, who designed the currency, which is now maintained by him and a small group of other enthusiasts.

Bitcoin transactions are verified by the work of software run by other people using the currency, a process that takes on average 10 minutes and can be much longer, an hour in the case of many exchange sites. Lee says that hinders operators of online stores from using the currency. “With Bitcoin, sometimes merchants are forced to accept unconfirmed transactions because confirmations are way too slow,” he says. “Faster confirmations lead to a more useful currency.”

omg i tried to finally pick up  a little cryptocurrency yesterday.

never have i failed so hard at something.

  • i seem to have an LTC wallet (no idea whether its synched or blockign or wahtever.  i dont know what any of that means)
  • found btc-e and registered, but none of the deposit mechanisms looked familiar

They should make this shit easier so the true speculators could come in.  Nothing fuels prices like speculative ignorant every-day-american money!

i work across from a CVS.  I'll look into moneypak.  there's also guys around my area that will sell BTC/LTC, and post up on craigslist.  say "all you need is a computer or phone".  seems sketchy as fuck.

i googled around a bit for a non-computer-programmer beginners guide, and didnt find much.

i'm just intrigued at this point, trying to lean some more so that next tiem i'm less apt to miss the boat again.

Your LiteCoin client has a green check mark on the bottom right?  If so, then its synced to the blockchain.  Do you have an address listed under the "Receive" menu?  If so, that is one of the addresses in your wallet.  If you have coins sent to that address then they should appear in your client (after some confirmations).

At BTCe do you see "Finances"?  Then go to funds and click deposit under LTC.  It should give you an address.  This is one of your BTCe account addresses.  If you send LTC to that address it should appear in your account.

When I sell BTC/LTC through craigslist I dont even need them to bring a phone.  I usually request the address ahead of time so I can enter it into my phone.  Then when making the sale I just send the coins away after receiving the money.  Usually the buyer does want to bring a phone/computer though because they want to confirm that I actually sent the coins to their address.

(I can sell you some LTC or BTC if you want)

I will buy your LTC from you DieCommie, PM Me. I already bought into BTC at .5=$508 and it went up a little but I'm mostly waiting to cash BTC->LTC then ride the tide until LTC gains go up to around $60-$100 (as much as %10 of BTC) then switch back to USD from there.

BTC... be careful.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2517244/Illegal-online-marketplace-replaced-Silk-Road-VANISHES--taking-100MILLION-users-money-it.html#ixzz2mPfoLKlC

Anonymous online marketplace that replaced Silk Road VANISHES... taking $100MILLION of users' money with it

Sheep Marketplace, an anonymous marketplace accessible only with the help of software that hides its users' identities, virtually vanished Sunday taking its vendors' money with it

Sheep Marketplace became the go-to 'dark web' site for drugs, illegal arms, and other shady deals after Silk Road was famously shuttered by the FBI in October

The site claimed they'd been hacked but cache of 96,000 Bitcoins, the equivalent to nearly $100 million, has been traced back to the site
