Yea that white one was actually one of my favorite finds that day. My impression was a Hygrophorus sp. of some sort.

Man I am pretty envious of those nice big Chlorophyllum you found there. For some reason they aren't that common up here in the hills.

Really nice pics Ran-d.

Let me start by adding another +++ on the pics Ran-D.

Pseudo, good news! Shaggy parasols are easy to grow!!! If you like I can send you some Chlorophyllum olivieri next fall (I've already preserved all mine). Maybe even spring. They fruit twice a year but I don't always get springers. They're saprobes and seem to like forest humus covered in a combination of conifer and hardwood litter near cover. Without much effort I was able to start colonies all over my yard. Sorry I don't have any right now though. But maybe someone else does.

Actually, I tend to find a lot of Inocybes in the oak forests here. That's where these were as well.

pseudotsuga- The Chlorophyllum love these oak forests too, they go off in the leaf litter. I got a couple parks down here where they fruit prolifically, I've still never tried them though!

Glad you folks enjoy looking at the photos, cuz I friggin love taking em

People love 'em. I've seen four distinct varieties here in the PNW (though only three are categorized). IMHO Only Chlorophyllum olivieri is good to eat. Some people call it "the gray one". It favors more wooded habitat than the others. Excellent flavor though the texture isn't noteworthy. The others have the same lack luster texture and far less flavor, so, good but not great. But it could be a regional thing also.

I need to learn how to use my camera. I can't get point and shoot image quality like that.

Yea the one I have does surprisingly well. It's good for walking the dog and stuff when I don't want to carry my real camera around. I was actually bummed I didn't have it for the Helvella though, would have liked to have gotten a real shot of those.

Excuse my laziness, because I'm sure this has been asked before, but what camera? I've actually been really surprised with the quality of macro shots that point n shoots can produce...
