i've noticed that alot of people want the more rhizo/stringier type of mycelium for grain jars, why is this?

A common misconception. A jar with more stringy rhizomorphic growth will not always outperform mycelium with a consistent growth margin. It's a characteristic of the genetic strain. Doesn't reflect fruiting performance in any of my experiments.

On such substrates, the mycelium tends to grow faster in search of food or moisture. Mycelium will go back and forth between rhizomorphic and cottony as conditions warrant. RR

Because rhizomorphic looks cool.
Maybe too because fluffy (tomentose) mycelium, while also good, looks more like common bread mold.

Shit I missed that. Thank you.
I even say in my sig line noob link not to respond to old threads, and to do advanced searches limited to last 3 years.
All my fault, but there must be a way to have less of this. I see very old threads in search results sometimes.
Really what the admins could do is make everything over 3 years old a different color page background by default, and allow us to change it to longer or shorter.
