When to lower RH in Martha for cropping?

It's been a while since I've fruited in a Martha. I don't remember when to lower the RH to about 86%. The pictures show where I'm at after 7 days in fruiting. Should I lower the RH now to crop or wait until they are bigger? I don't want them to abort. Thanks

You never have to lower it to a certain percentage....you do however want some sort of fluctuation, so that evaporation can occur.

What you want is constant FAE....so there is constant evaporation.
Focus less on humidity and more on FAE.
For starters what kind of FAE is your martha getting?

Its in a closet. It has large slits cut on the sides of every shelf except the lower middle. The front is open about about 6 inches on the bottom by the cool mist's intake. I have the closet door open about a foot and a fan in the room on every few hours then off every few. I also open the zipper door of the Martha and blast it with a fan for about 20 seconds 2-4 times a day.

Ok, so it sounds like they are getting plenty of FAE.....just be patient....sometimes it can take 2 weeks for the substrate to pin, depending on genetics.
Just make sure there are always tiny droplets of moisture on the surface....these should constantly be evaporating away....

There are tons of pins on some of the blocks. They range from a little bigger than knots to 3-5mm lumps. A friend of mine told me he lowers RH to mature the pins. I also had that impression from Paul Stamet's The Mushroom Cultivator. It says 95% for primordia formation and 85% to crop/mature. Martha stays around 88-90% 24/7. Thanks for the help

Sounds like your friend could needs to do some research.
I wouldn't take any more advice from him....this is where you need to be.
The pins mature just fine on their own....you do want a fluctuation in RH tho..but not just for them to mature....that is BS.

That book is 30 years old....we have learned a lot since then.

You'll get better storage life from your fresh mushrooms if you'll take the trays out of the greenhouse a few hours before picking. The lower humidity will help dry the surface. RR
