Popcorn substrate and casing

Hello all beings of shroomery...
I was wondering if a casing is absolutely required to fruit P. Cubensis grown in popcorn. If so, what are alternatives to Vermiculite. I have literally been to every hardware/home improvement/gardening store on this island and they only have perlite. I am looking for easy to obtain casing materials for this (if casing is required). I will not be fruiting in the container as to maximize fruiting locations. Any help would be great.
before you say that fruiting from popcorn is lower in potency:

Could I break up a coconut husk and use that as a casing material?

We don't have walmart here lol, but maybe thats for the best. Do you think regular soil would be a good casing material to just put over the top? Also, when popcorn is fully colonized is it loose or held together?

If you're wanting to grow straight from the popcorn, I'd say a casing layer is pretty necessary unless growing invitro which you aren't.
I usually use sifted potting soil! Here's how

Quit being stingy if you give your mix away it's going to make you better because you are going to have to come up with a better mix.

lol yeah but I think every thing with this hobbie should be about experimenting to see what works ya know 2minutes of looking and u could come up with at least 10 suggestions on mixes pick one and turn it into ur own mix
ps don't think it was stingy at least I suggested a method rather than just trolling a post
