Water isnt bad. I think probably what you were reading is someone explaining that when you mist your cakes to use a fine mist as a heavy one can bruise mycellium and perhaps wash off verm?

Only thing that would make sense to me

You heard wrong...mist your cakes gently with a fine mist until they glisten, then fan out the chamber.

This will not cause aborts......

People told me in the past that water or misting cakes would cause pins to abort-pure bullshit.. in fact im working on my first grow in years and my mushies are doing great since i started misting the cakes/pins directly.. back in '04 when i regostered here everyone thought drops of water hitting your pins would abort em, when in fact it does wonders in my experience..

Ive been fine misting cakes directly about 3 times a day and fanning 4-5 times daily.. more misting may be required depending on your local climate and wether your house is dry or mot.. my house is full of dry air and heat and a minimum of 3 mists a day til the cakes are glistening have made a world of difference

Heat the room, not the fruiting chamber.

I currently grow in a house where it is about 73 degrees.on average..but is not my main residence.. my main residence is 60-63 on average and i am doing an expirement there with a few mycobags but havent noticed any knotting or pinning yet.. bt i lived in an apartment years ago that remained a constant 65°F and mushies grew fine.. but instead of getting tall they grew short and fat, really meaty..your temp should be ok.. even in areas where cubes grow in the wild temps ften reach the low end of 60s..
