Do you think that people that aren't interested in politics are less intelligent?

Thread title says it all.
Sure politics is an interest you can have just like collecting stamps. So not being interested in it shouln't be a big deal right?
The thing is, politics directly affect your life and the future of your country so its not a regular interest you know.
What do you guys think?

I used to be really interested in politics but I got bored with it. What you know doesn't change anything. I actually think, if anything, following 'politics' as it's defined by our media as a sign of lesser intelligence.

I think people who aren't interested in the world around them are less interesting themselves. The world around us includes politics to a degree, sure, but the spectacle of politics is IMO vaguely nauseating and full of people who take themselves and their ridiculous beliefs far too seriously. I also believe many things that are handled by politicians should be handled by experts instead, but that's another thing.
Intelligence does not enter into it at all I think. It's possible to be extremely intelligent and not the slightest bit interested in the world.

I think people not interested in space seem stupid but I guess it's just different strokes.
I do think people who think shit like TED Talks are as valuable as books are pretty fucking getting there stupid.

The people who ignore most politics might just be the smarter ones, because they have the right idea getting out of the argument

I answered yes... mainly because it has a very big effect on our future, and IMO that's very important.

Maybe. But does your awareness of it change anything? And how much of what you think you know is bullshit?

I'm a huge stamp collector. In fact, I'm trying to collect ALL the stamps.
I've collected so many stamps so far that postage keeps increasing. USPS can't keep up with stamp demand.
The postal service is going to shut down because I'm the stamp guy, and I have succeeded in making a difference.
tl;dr One person one vote. My vote won't make a difference. I focus my energy elsewhere. I can be that guy who has a novel idea that alters the course of history.

I've gone through about 10 of them now and they've all disappointed me. The last one was about peace corps type efforts in Africa and they all said corny shit like "at first I had to learn how to REALLY listen" and the teach a man to fish cliche was used and so on.

There are many intelligent people whose list of interests doesn't really include politics (some of whom might have focused more on math or science or whatever.) There are also people who are just ignorant in general because they haven't put in the effort to learn much about anything. Someone with no interest in politics could be either of those two extremes or somewhere in between. The same goes for any number of other topics as well.
