The Official Punx Not Dead Thread
    #19196002 - 11/27/13 11:19 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Hey my fellow shroomerites!
I thought it was about time we had an official punk thread, fuck all yall who are going to post in here about punk being dead, or about how you thik it sucks.

I spend alot of time searching for and listening to new (or old) punk bands. I wanted to make this thread to share with the community all the amazing music I have found.

Please post any and all punk music you enjoy in this thread, I want to use this as a discussion place for all things punk, and would love a new avenue in which to find new music!

So lets get this going! I want to hear what punk you guys are listening to!

Just to get the ball rolling...

Thanks for starting the thread!  Black flag is killer.  The world of punk would be so different without them.

have you seen neil hamburger's mock up of that album?  He's a great comedian

Are the creeps from sweden?  I like some scandinavian crust too.  Plus all the black metal going on up there.  BM couldn't exist without punk!

Here's some finnish black metal.  I can definitely hear some punk roots
Arnaut Pavle

Mayhem

and some south american bm - Sepultura

The creeps are from Ottawa Ontario. Their a really unknown band that I only know about via a friend who met the singers girl and she gave him her copy of the CD in a random coffee shop because she saw his studded jacket and assumed hed like them. Ever since that day weve been blowing loads over their music! I know it isnt the most technical punk rock or you know isnt quite black flag, but it is fucking amazing in its own respect and I fucking love them!

Crust punk is fun
I also quite like BM, I can hear punk roots in alot of it, ALOT. Im really big into Children of Bodom and In Flames, their not exactly black metal but none the less phenomenal!

Heres a band thats local to me called Closet Monster, I grew up a stones throw from these dudes and I gotta say its some pretty good tunes! They eventually went on to play gtar for avril lavigne  and I believe one of them works for gene simmons doing some sellout bs or whatever... Respect to what they did for my local punk scene though  I urge you to acquire their discog

Just saw this girl punk band about two weeks ago called Skating Polly. They're from Oklahoma and they're stepsisters one is 14 and the other is 17 and they interchange on the instruments. Some of their songs i guess wouldn't be considered really punk but i can tell you the live show they put on was very punk.
One of my favorites by them

WOW SKATING POLLY! Fully impressed by that, I have mad respect for those chicks, do you know if they write original music? I really hope so cuz that gave me hope for the future of punk!!

The Cuffs- badass! sick song thanks bro!

The virus - Also really sick! Havent heard them before! I really liked their sound actually! Pretty street punk!

Aaaaaaand the fucking Casualties!!! God I love the Casualties!! I have seen them easily 6+ times now, always my fvourite show, meet so many cool punx at their shows, I saw them last earlier this year with the English Dogs! And then again with Dayglo Abortions! I will never miss a canadian date for the Casualties!

If the punx are united, they will never be divided!!

I do believe they write all their own music. They did do a cover of dirty deeds done dirt cheap by AC/DC at the show though, it sounded pretty bad ass. They've been a band for like 4 years already so they started pretty early ha. They've got two albums out now and I think they're working on their 3rd and 4th. I would really enjoy seeing more punk from them in the future but so far i'm impressed.

I just saw a cover of paper planes by them, made that song 300% better. I will deffinetly be following Skating Polly now actually, good to see some talented girls releasing punk music.

This band is from Tenessee (spelt wrong..) and Ive seen them 3 times I think? I first discovered them at warped tour when it didnt suck.  *Sidenote: Although I think warped tour in the states is still decent in some places. All the warped tour dates in canada (that Im close enough to drive to) have all turned into scene fest. Warped tour is dead here.
Enjoy :awedance:

The original A-F was the best. When Andy was around, and Justin wasn't trying to sing. These two albums are punk as fuck.
