Gonna go see them on the 6th i believe here in CT. Just wondering how everyone thought their shows were. I've heard mixed reviews , either way I know for a fact their usual opening band black bananas is garbage.

I have at fests and if it tells you anything it wasn't by choice and talking about how to make a usable octagonal hula hoop is better entertainment tells you anything then....
But I'm not into poppy kid rock and I don't mean for anyone to be personally offended by that.
Also if you haven't figured it out yet but I'm a music junkie and know what I like and a key give away to me not fully liking a band (there's always exceptions but you get the idea) is if 90% of the time If that band has an opening act.
Now two if the my three favorite bands are Keller Williams and Yonder Mountain String Band and I would say like 15% if the time they have an opener just cause they like them and they still play a full two sets.
If you can't give me two full sets of entertainment alone then your not worth my $30.
Side not on the 7th I'm going to see Keller with Jeff Austin from YMSB, Keith Moseley from Cheese and another Cheese member at the Fillmore to play "Grateful Grass"
If you don't know who I'm talking about or what I'm talking about them you need to investigate. Hell I'm going to make a thread about it. Just wait and ill explain in the hour hopefully with vids

i'll def look up some of those bands. I only posten this thread because i heard that the band isnt the greatest live group. I was in love with this band through their first two albums though, so it feels almost obligatory to go. its not exactly poppy kid rock though these guys are anything but poppy, just pure psychedelia in a music industry full of artificial superficial garbage. can you post some videos to a couple good songs from that band youre gonna see?

an ex took me to see them years ago at sunfest. I ate some mushrooms and had a somewhat enjoyable time because of it. they did this crazy thing with the bass for around 30 seconds and people thought that was really cool, me included
I would never pay to see them play however

Well this exact collaboration of musicians happened one time of febuary 8th of 2006. They play together here and there but not as these three. Its Keller Williams of his own self titled band and he's in like 8 other bands he has created. Then Jeff Austin who is the lead singer and mandolinist if Yonder Mountain String Band. And the Keith Moseley the bassist fir The String Cheese Incident.
This concert will be I believe the second time for them to ever do this and its a grateful dead benefit. So all songs are grateful dead covers.
Here's a video but its not video just music of that night. They are doing Saint Stephen and Keller fucking does a beat boxe thing in part of it. A dead song. Its Cray Cray yo

I saw MGMT live on the Oracular Spectacular tour, unfortunately. I don't know if it was because I was sober or used to high energy metal concerts but it fucking sucked. One of the most boring shows I'd ever been to, literally everyone just stood around watching, I guess if thats what people like though.

I enjoy MGMT and when they came to play at Penn State I was thoroughly excited. They played Time to Pretend and one other song every one knew, than just weird shit that didn't sound good. No one seemed entertained except for MGMT. Right before the last song they acknowledged the crowd by saying "would you look at that moon.....oh yea you guys are facing the wrong way. sorry" Than they teased kids and went into something else. I was on 2cb and a little acid. I was disappointed and left.
I figured they just didn't like the whole frat star scene cause that's what it was. But I was going to Firefly, so I could see them again.
I saw them again, same shit. They didn't play anything anyone wanted to hear, didn't fuck with the crowd, nothing. they're fucking hipsters who think they invented music.

damn that sucks. I was listening to their live stuff recently and realized the lead singer just sucks. hopefully its not 30 bucks wasted on these freaking tickets. Its a sold out show anyways, maybe the fans will create a good atmosphere? who knows. They say a band thats amazing in the studio is barely ever amazing live
