my cacti setup..... thoughts?!
    #19195484 - 11/27/13 08:55 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I have 3 6-7 cm san pedros and 3 1cm lophs with soil temps at 80-85F how much and how often should they be watered. You can see picture in my gallery. I used 1/3 cactus mix 1/3 sand and 1/3 perelite. More wattage soon to come this is only 12w. I live in ohio where it is curently snowing and air is very dry. I live in an apartment that has radiant head so humidity is very low. I hear if your unsure its always best to not water. Thughts?! TIA

I have never grown cacti indoors so I can't comment about the lighting. You also left a lot out about your exact lighting so others would need more info to comment. Your statement about not watering if unsure is a good practice with cacti. Your soil should be well draining from what you described. Water once and then wait until the Trichos don't look quite so "inflated" or "swollen". The Lophs will also be hard and swollen after watering and will shrink and become soft when they have dried out a bit. I do this and if you let them shrink up good then water they often flower right after. Of course don't water in the cooler winter months at all. Happy growing!

I bet embedded pictures would encourage the hardcore cacti growers to comment  The more details you put it your post the more input you'll receive. I know nothing about LED lighting, and I have no large trichs yet, but once you get down your watering schedule it should be a piece of cake, really your worst enemy is over-watering.
