6 ways mushrooms can save the world

Entrepreneurial mycologist Paul Stamets seeks to rescue the study of mushrooms from forest gourmets and psychedelic warlords. The focus of Stamets' research is the Northwest's native fungal genome, mycelium, but along the way he has filed 22 patents for mushroom-related technologies, including pesticidal fungi that trick insects into eating them, and mushrooms that can break down the neurotoxins used in nerve gas.
There are cosmic implications as well. Stamets believes we could terraform other worlds in our galaxy by sowing a mix of fungal spores and other seeds to create an ecological footprint on a new planet.
the video
it gets really interesting about half way through.

Never the less it's an excellent presentation, he has excellent ideas even if they aren't all economically feasible.

I knew before I read a word it was a Stamets article. He has some great ideas, some practical, and regardless of hype, has done a lot to get people to see fungi in a new light. And who here didn't get introduced into this hobby via a borrowed (or stolen) copy of 'The Mushroom cultivator'. Nicecrisman is his puppet here on the shroomery(lol!).
-------------------- Rocks speak to me, and tell me this: The Hell Creek formation is a gigantic slab of rocks that covers several western states. It contains an account of the dinosaurs' demise. In the late Cretaceous period, the first Cannabis species appear, and soon after, all the non-bird dinosaurs disappeared. Obviously, marihuana killed the dinosaurs. That giant meteor that smacked the yucatan peninsula right afterwards, coincidence.

I also hadn't seen it, thanks for posting. He looks a lot older there than the pic of him in PMOTW I hardly recognized him. And that was in 2008 I believe, so I wonder what he looks like today. Good info!

He has good ideas but he keeps patenting them.
The title should be "6 ways you'd have to pay me to save the world with mushrooms"
Sorry but Paul Stamets isnt a great example of open-sourced collaboration. He is just another greedy dude with good ideas
