Thanksgiving....share some tasty recipes & stuff, for side dishes & desserts.

I meant to make this thread a while back...but I'm great at procrastinating.
I don't really have anything to offer outside of the usual classics. I don't really know many recipes but I can cook. I'd like to contribute to the dinner this year, with a side dish or a dessert of sorts. One thing I was thinking about was making some proper hot chocolate with real good quality chocolate and some spices thrown up in there, none of that spurious powdered shit in packets.
Any of you have some recipes for side dishes or desserts that you would be willing to share?...I know there's all sorts of recipes & thangs that can be found on this here internet, but I'd like to hear what ya'll have to offer.
So yea, anything that's delectable will do, but more "exotic" and different the better, or new takes/different twist on classic dishes/desserts. Preferably not something that's going to take more than a day to make, as I know sometimes certain things have to sit or chill over night before being ready to be grubbed upon. .

I'm about to make oatmeal pumpkin cookies. If it turns out okay I'll share the recipe. I basically just googled 'oatmeal pumpkin cookies' though so the recipe is probably fairly standard.

I do know one thing, this recipe will be made this year.

And to me, that looks freaking awesome. Then again I love brussels sprouts and gruyere cheese.

The lady at the liquor store asked me if I was cooking Thanksgiving this year, I told her I was. Then she asked what I was having...I said just generic stuff, turkey and taters ya know. She replied, "Oh, I thought you were gonna say ramen noodles or something." I tried not to laugh cuz I was so stoned, but I told her I knew how to cook and to have a good night.
I wish I could afford to go all out but I'm not having a ton of people over or anything.

I am bringing Sriracha and Banana Pepper Potato Salad to the family gathering this year for a side, and Dark Chocolate Stout Cupcakes with bourbon frosting for a dessert (that beer in the recipe is hard to find, but any stout will taste great)
I love Thanksgiving I've been called a "foodie" for how ecstatic I get about eating and learning new recipes

It's a good one. Tasting the icing itself is straight bourbon, but with the dark chocolate and the coffee/chocolate flavors of a stout is soo good. Sometime I'm gonna make them with a bourbon-barrel aged stout

Hey, I'll take a copy of that recipe if you're sending it out.
Any one ever heard of ?? Growing up in Pa. we had it often. Practically impossible to find out side of that region. I searched high and low at all my local NJ stores. The closest source was like a 45 minute drive, for a $3 box of dry corn? ( It is available on line.)
We'll be stocking up some for Xmas and future meals.
We do french cut green bean/ mushroom soup casserole, brussel sprouts and/or asparagus, roasted 'root crop' casserole( carrots, parsnips, baby potatoes, beets, sweet potato, onion, garlic, some ginger...), mashed 'taters, some thing with cranberrys in it. Also some yellow beets this year.
We skip the being vegetarians and all.
This year eggplant parm, stuffing of course, and 3 pies: pumpkin, apple and something different each year... . . .

This is a Squash Medley Recipe that I used a few years ago and got a lot of compliments on it. Stuff was fucking tasty. . .
Ingredients: 1 medium summer squash, halved sliced 1 medium zucchini, halved and sliced 4 bacon strips, diced 3/4 cup chopped onion 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1-1/2 cups diced seeded and peeled fresh tomatoes (I used the roasted garlic variety)
Directions: 1. Place 1 in. of water in a saucepan. Add squash and zucchini. Bring to a boil; cook for 4-5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain and set aside. In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove to paper towels. Drain, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings.
2.In the drippings, saute onion until tender. Add the squash, brown sugar and seasonings. Stir in tomatoes. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with bacon. Serve with a slotted spoon.

It turned out... decent at best. Maybe something went wrong
This one was awesome, and it turned out great a couple years back. http://www.food.com/recipe/they-will-eat-them-bacon-parmesan-brussels-sprouts-102677
We will go back to that one. Oh, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper to make.
