No sign of life...

I got 5 new brf cakes that birthed 13 days ago, no sign of mycelium growth. Rewind two weeks I had three cakes in my fc starting to pin each cake only pined 3 to 4 mushrooms each, before they could fully mature they turned black at the base and rotted in a matter of hours. Threw them out bleached my fc and perlite. I'm thinking this is some kind of contamination. Has anyone had this issue of their mushrooms just rott at the base like this? I thought it was an over saturation issue but seeing as how nothing is growing im concerned.

You birthed them without seeing any mycelium growth? With the pf tek aren't you supposed to let it fully colonize then wait a week after that? I mean, if the cakes aren't fully colonized then of course they're gonna contam.

Gotcha, you made it seem like you were throwing uncolonized cakes into a fruiting chamber. My bad, the jars that have no mycelium in them could have been inoculated with bad spores maybe. As for the black stems, I've never heard of that. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Huh, that's very strange, what do they smell like? A bacterial contam smells like rotting fruit I know you said you've been growing since 1999, and that's 14 years longer than me, but I have to ask. What does your settup look like? Is it getting enough FAE? Enough humidity?

Its actually a sealed plastic bin tucked away hiddin it gets a quick fan at leat 4 times a day for about 30 seconds or so. My temps at 72f & humidity stays high I use a heating pad thats on constantly, my light is an old 20 watt fish tank light. Really simple, can't use a sgfc because of were its keept.

I'd ditch the heating pad but otherwise it sounds good. I agree, it sounds bacterial, but strange that there's no smell.

Yea sorry bro I'm thinking bacterial as well since I've had some problems kinda like that except mine completely refused to fruit and had a very slight mildew or stagnated water smell so I chocked it up to bacteria and tossed.
If you don't mind me asking. How much spore solution did you use and did you shake well prior to inoculation.
If so how exactly did you make room in the syringe to distribute the spores evenly?

Thats what the seconed batch did, after I put them in I had no new mycelium groth at all, must have contaminated from my hands, work space or my dunking container. I use about 1.5cc, just shakem.

remember to rinse well before and after the dunk it's common to have some bacteria build up
