wbs sticking together after pc
    #19191823 - 11/26/13 12:39 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

i just pressure cooked some jars. after pcing the grains were one big block. i was able to break them up by shaking after i took them out of the pc. there are still some dime sized clumps in the jars though. are these jars still ok to use. i got the moisture correct . i think the reason they are sticking together is because of starches. there was a bit of shredded grain the bird feed that i was using. please let me know. thank you.

If you haven't in inoculated the jars yet try shaking them a lot. Most of my jars start like that but they gradually get better. I agree though, add gypsum. I forgot to add gypsum on my last batch of wbs and it is sooo much slower and soooo much more clumpy!
