What were you like before shrooms?

Hey guys. So I just read this thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19187279 and it got me thinking, after having experienced what Psilocybin mushrooms have to offer how have you changed as a person; your views/ideologies/perspectives on and approach to life/etc. Was the change instant or gradual over a period of time? And also how important is intention when entering a trip e.g. an intention for self healing or intention for mind expansion, etc.
I guess I'm really curious since i'm set for my first mushroom experience once my PF Cakes fruit (there already in my SGFC ).

This is a great question! The main thing that I noticed was a drastic shift in perception. I was given new ways to look at and interact with the world we are so strangely placed upon. Although I believe I am basically the same person, it opened up a side of me I never knew existed. It was the state of mind I had always been looking for. As for your intentions, I say it is best to leave those aside, especially for your first time. Intentions can make a real mess out of a trip. Just relax and give into the flow.
Safe travels!

My change was over time and I'm still changing today. I can't really explain it in a few sentences, it is one of those experiences but lets just say that 99% of my change was positive. The only hard part that my change had caused was interacting in today's society. It's gotten easier over time too though. I kinda just have that freak pride now. Ha. Act the same around normal society as long as it won't get you arrested and people actually don't seem to judge you too harsh. Maybe! Lol

I was alot more uptight and quick to anger before I came to know mushrooms. Overall I'd say it's made me more laid back, I became more open and receptive to other people. What's interesting is that my taste in music has also change significantly, I started listening to a wider range of music whereas before I would limit myself to one or two genres.

I agree. There is no guiding a trip. You are along for the ride. I find I do end up visiting some common places along the way though.
Here are some tips for the first timers. Read up a lot before you trip. The more you know the less nervous you will be.
Take a small dose. One day down the road when you have travelled the cosmos a little more you can try heavier doses.
Never trip if you had a bad day. Or you are scared or there are any negative energies within you.
Tripping with a sober friend that has tripped before. You don't want someone that will mess with you. This friend can help ground you. Also the can keep you out of trouble.
I find tripping outside on sunny days a total delight. It feels very positive.
Avoid crowds. Parks are a good choice. You can walk and listen to music. I would not advise tripping in unfamiliar woodlands off trail. I got disoriented once that way.
Trips last a long time. Be prepared. I keep tranquilizers or opiates handy in case I want off the ride. Obviously you want to be home at that point.
Where ever you are be comfortable.
Avoid drinking alcohol.
Be patient. It takes a while to kick in just like eating weed. Do not eat more right away.
Eat shrooms on an empty belly. You can snack after the trip begins. I recommend fresh fruits. I usually make up a snack before hand. Have water handy too. I will usually drink 32oz or more.
Maybe it is just me but I hate TV when tripping but I love music.
I avoid weed before or during tripping. I find it intensifies the trip and not always in a good way. Some folks like it but not me.
Regarding the question of how I changed, I became more open minded. I do more listening now. I spend a lot more time puzzling out my own ideas about things. I respect life more. I am more positive. I feel compelled to be around living things, care for and about them, and generally enjoy and appreciate them. Some of the changes were immediate revelations other things grew out of those notions over time.
Good luck and enjoy.

I was an atheist before my psychedelic usage.
my first 4 aco dmt trip had me in contact with some benevolent spirit that felt almost like family to me.
My first DMT trip made me believe in life after death as I found it improbable that I could leave my body so easily and return.
My first Acid trip made me realize that I do not belong in this generation and/or society

It's hard to say. I got into psilocybin when I was fifteen, the "formative years of my adolesence" as it were. I can't distinguish between what effects were just due to growing up, and what effects were due to the fungus.

Essentially the same, except a bit more mentally innocent.
Psychedelics have so far had little lasting effect on me. The only noticeable ones have been stuff like:
- I no longer kill bugs if I can avoid it
- I fear death more
- I have the money is not equal to happiness vibe
- I have become slightly more awkward socially while becoming somehow more relaxed in social situations

I went from being a brainwashed Christian and peculiar artist to an enigmatic, nature-loving hippie who's addicted to sharing compassion.
Mushrooms brought me closure on my deceased parents, respect for the Earth, a sense of wonder of the universe, and a desire to spread love to as many people as I possibly can.

I didn't appreciate life near as much before I started tripping. I now have a greater respect for life and feel sorrow for how I let so many things pass me by and took many things for granted.
I also really started to think for myself much more and feel more aware of the world around me.
A lot of these things could have been realized without psychedelics, but they helped this blind man see

Introvert ,mad ,lost ,apathetic ,sad , felt like I didn't belong in this world, no confidence, low ambition. I could go on but basically the psychedelic experiences I have had made me the man I am today which is the opposite of those things.

To put it plainly... now i just don't give a fuck.
I use to worry way too much about what others thought of me. I relied on this to build an image of myself. Trying to adjust myself to please everyone. IT DOESN'T WORK! Be yourself and find pleasure in being unique, life is so much more interesting that way.

That was 12 years ago..
I have often wondered that if there were infinite alternate dimensions that if the one that is exactly like this dimension except I never touched psyces at all, what would have been the outcome. I cant help but to think I'd be in jail.

LSD was caused the most identifiable change in me. It showed me compassion is a virtue that is necessary to have, to live a respectable, wholesome life. Also shrooms brought me closer to nature.
