lol, dude... first lesson of college. Smile, nod and toe the liberal line. Seriously, the university and especially the classroom is no place for a student to express individual, non-mainstream or non-liberal beliefs.

I dunno. Sure, in English or History you're likely to find liberal beliefs, but I've had plenty of conservative/Republican professors in the Math/Sciences.

Yeah my math teacher is a Christian. She doesn't try to shove it down her students throats though, she's open to talk about it 1 on 1 outside of class.

I've never had one. If I did they hid it since they obviously know the first lesson of college. I suspect that the few that exist are mostly in the economics department. In either case, there is never a good reason to open your mouth and spew your beliefs.

Never took an economics class, but I agree wholly with your last statement, at least if you're not coating your beliefs in amenable rhetoric suitable to the context of your professor's reality tunnel.

I'm not spewing my beliefs in class, I'm questioning his beliefs, and once again I do so respectfully. He just doesn't seem to like it.

Of course he doesn't. Nobody does. No matter how hard you try to be open minded, you will get a bad taste in your mouth if somebody questions your beliefs. Don't be that bad taste. As a student you are not going to change anybody's mind so don't bother.

So, my boss just implied he was a Republican. I wasn't spewing my beliefs, just questioning them, but I told him how conservatives are assholes and couldn't care less about the poor, and he ended up firing me. What an asshole.

I'm questioning them to understand them. How else will i learn :struggle: I don't mind when people question me, especially now that I've decided that I don't have any answers

That really should be the way it works. The individual student should be empowered, the university and all its subsidy is there to service the student and society, not professors and office bitches. For this to happen we need standardized statistics of the scores students receive before and after the class. Also, its a conflict of interest for the person doing the educating to be the same person doing the testing. You cant let people be their own judge of their own performance, that just doesnt work. The school system's faculty need to purposefully design the methods of testing for each course. The onus should then be on the professor and student to be able to excel at these tests. No more conflict of interest. The person teaching you and ideally helping you to succeed is not the same one judging you and failing you if you suck. This is, I think, a practical capitalist/libertarian way to "fix" a lot of education. In this system you would have both the students competing to get the best teachers and the teachers competing to get the most students. Teachers that suck would fail to get students, teachers that rock could increase their students and excel. Instead, we pretend that all teachers are the same and charge the same rate no matter which teacher you get - even though we all know there are good and bad teachers.

True dat.
Choosing the right prof when there's a large selection of them for a particular class is CRUCIAL. It made a fucking enormous difference in my life when I read reviews on the profs. Some of them are egotistical douchenozzles that can't teach worth a fuck and just drone on and on and on in a boring monotone and occasionally invite a student to offer an opinion up that they can then shit all over.
Other professors are just the loveliest people on the planet, super friendly, everything they say is relevant to what we are expected to know, they truly invite dialogue, help students wherever they can, and are truly educators

Wellp my professor ignored my email so I showed up to class to chat with him, and he refused to talk to me about it. He just kept telling me to go to student services so I asked if he was kicking me out of class or what's going on and he wouldn't just give me a yes or no even
So I told him he was being unreasonable and he flipped shit. Looks like i'm retaking this class
