I have a 6quart tub brick going. two quarts reishi spawn and 4 quarts pasteurized sawdust, I was thinking of "birthing" this loaf of reishi substrate onto a layer of saran wrap then wrapping it up and cutting slits in it, then throwing it in the SGFC. Sound legit, Or I could just top fruit it and leave it in the bin.

that wrap sounds like a cool idea if it works!  i have a small bucket of reishi colonizing now, that i cut holes on the side hoping for it to fruit out of those, like with an oyster bucket.  i can top fruit it too i guess.

Well I have no problem with how well it top fruited :awesomenod: maybe with a different culture it might not have been as successful,  maybe I will test some more limited fruiting area for future attempts.

its getting warmer here, but still occasionally verging on freezing at night.  Rh is at 60% outside w/ all the melting snow.  i wonder if i would fruit my bucket outside, with just the side holes?

It will fruit from wherever it can find air.  If you want it to fruit out the sides and not top, just seal off the top.

I don't think it would do well...  G. lucidum doesn't much like cold, anywhere near freezing is too cold.  Even the G. tsugae around here (which is more cold-hardy than lucidum) doesn't start fruiting till late spring.

Have some medicinal mushrooms and want to get the most out of them?  Try this double extraction method.
