That's what you call a really nice reishi pinset! I haven't got one to look like that in a while, don't know if it's the cold here or what.
You're gonna have some nice fruits
I don't know if you've said already but what temps are you growing those at? I'm gonna have to try me a super high supplementation rate!

Well they are in my basement which gets a little cool unfortunatly at times, especially in winter, so temps are fluctuating between 68 - 74. Glad to hear all looks well so far

Man, that ain't cold! My bedroom fluctuates between 62-68, I guess that's why the reishi hates it, lol. Yours is definitely liking the conditions, that's an ideal pinset for sure.

When my wife gets home with the camera I'll post some pics of the crappy pinsets and thin fruits I've been getting, to help show the awesomeness of what you've got there

So pretty much what im gathering is you sterilized fuel pellets (sterilized, not pasteurized), inoculated with grainspawn. Once fully colonized you put the tote on its side?
Can the same thing be done with bags, and poking holes in it? Would the FC require high humidity?

One tub was sterilized fuel pellets, the other tub was a mix of sterilized fuel pellets, coir and verm. The tubs are re-purposed from my cube grows, so they do hold pretty high RH.

Well its not really your typical cube monotub to begin with. Its a 20 quart tub, with a 1.5" hole drilled into each of the long sides above the substrate. It then has a series of 1/4" holes drilled into the upper sides. To help keep the RH high I only put poly into the bottom hole that was facing down when the tub was flipped over and the other one was left taped. Here is a shot of the top 1/4" holes. Excuse the cubes.

Well strange and crazed things are happening. Got some crazy discoloration/metabolites going on and the blobs are getting bigger. So far I think that the metabolites are normal, seems like I have seen pics of them in bags etc, just never seen ones like this. They are definitely stronger in the 100% fuel pellets tub.

These things look like. . .

Thanks man! I am already dreaming of harvest. Got a few people in my life who could really benefit from these and they cost way to much in the health food store to even think of buying.

Holy crap dude I think you just answered my question of "does a really high spawn rate benefit reishi?"
That's it, I'm starting me up a monotub this weekend with 7 freakin' quarts of spawn.
Awesome grow. I've never seen one with so much fruit.
Can't wait to see how it comes along. If you can manage to get them enough air I bet you can get some MASSIVE conks.

Glad my noobishness is paying off. However I can't bank on that forever MASSIVE conks sounds pretty good to me
Things are still moving, lot of metabolites in there. Starting to see some color on the blobs God I feel like such a noob

One thing - watch out for that polyfill! As soon as the fruits touch it they're going to grow into, and through it. You'll never be able to get the damn polyfill out of the fruits. Reishi isn't like other mushrooms that will just push up against it, they completely envelope it. Maybe you don't care about a couple fruits (you can still use 'em they're just a bit fuzzy), but they will grow all the way through the hole and form conks on the OUTSIDE of your tub if you don't do anything. You wouldn't believe what reishi will do to get to air.
