Depends everything has a nutrition ratio. Wether you want absolute organic horticultures is how you make it or don't. gotta think tho too that mushrooms.break down chemicals and can alter their make up maybe making poisons outi of the residual fertilizers left in the substrates.

Nothing else just ran out of rye and since their is a big difference in the cost between organic and regular I was gonna go for the regular type. I'm not gonna fruit the spawn at all on this grow since it's my first ATL#7 truffle grow I'm just gonna pick out the truffles and maybe spawn outdoors with a couple jars.

I use organic since it seems so much cleaner but thats just me. But saying that, my health food store got bugs in their grains so it will be a few weeks til I can get some.So thats a pain in the butt. So I am re trying the feed grain for fun.

You can get 40 lbs of birdseed for about 18 bucks at wal mart
If you can't find rye for close to that price I would go get that. And you're definitely not going to find "organic" rye sold anywhere near that price. Myc will colonize just about anything if you prep it right. You'll be fine with "non organic" grains

Sometimes non-organic rye berries will have mold inhibitors, pesticides, other chems present which is not what you want when trying to grow edible mold.

I would use the WBS but it just kinda scares me and I also noticed on here that truffle producers don't like it as much as Rye or people just don't use it as much but I guess I'll have to get the organic again.

Well unless you can actually taste it, it doesn't matter. I don't have much experience with edibles. But I will say that thousands of us grow with "inorganic" spawn and we are just fine. Not to mention if you're an American and managing to avoid herbicides and anti fungals I would be very impressed and you would probably know where to get organic rye berries on the cheap. Because the only communities where that happens is where people are producing the foods themselves.
I wouldn't trust a fucking thing some one who sells groceries to yuppies says. And I sure as shit wouldn't pay extra so they could tag the bag with "organic" as defined by the FDA. You don't have to go as cheap as wal mart WBS but don't buy berries from a grocer.
