Occasional use is the key - much like with everything else we talk about here :smile:

I roll about 3x a year... I might like to do it a bit more often, but at that rate, I really really get to look forward to it, and plan to have a GREAT time when I do.  So it's no skin off my teeth that I don't get to do it more.

Just make sure you've got plenty of water, some chewing gum, some great music, some comfey chairs/sofas/beanbags... I don't know if you're going out or staying in, but prepare to smile.  Hard.

Dreamer...

I did E once, but that one time changed my life. At the time, I was doing some pretty hearty drinking every night, hurting those around me and even considering suicide. I got the opportunity to take E one night, and I chowed it down, expecting to get the 'fucked up' feeling that alcohol gave me. (I was very drug inexperienced)

Wow, my life completley changed for the better. I saw how terribly I was taking advantage of those I loved, putting them through hell and I really opened up to my boyfriend that night and told him everything I was feeling, how sorry I was for putting him through that hell.

There was laughter and tears, but since then I have hardly dranken at all, and I make sure never *ever* to take anyone in my life for granted. That was what E opened me up to...allowing me to see how special and how fragile life is, and how I should cherish every moment I have with my loved ones.

I haven't done it since, and really don't want to. I've never had such an eye opening experience with any other drug except maybe a shroom experience or two.

I say just enjoy your experience and let it take you where it will.

It's stupid to do it every weekend. You should've known that.
But I don't think there's anything wrong with using ecstasy 3-4 times a year. You won't lose the magic and you won't get depressed, especially if you take some 5-htp afterward.

I did it once every 1.5 months, 6 times in a row. I'm about to graduate with a 3.45 GPA. Hasn't hindered me one bit. It did make me depressed and moody after it was all said and done, but that was my fault for not doing it 2-3x/year.

he cant spell good because of rolls huh? thats the biggest crock of shit ive ever heard, there is absolutely no way you can substantiate the correlation between mdma usage and the ability to spell. mmmkay

Just scanning thru, i didn't see anyone suggest you look at the pill reports at dancesafe.org. go for it. there's no guarantee that it will be the same, but it might be worth looking into.

pill tests is the page i was referring to. useful wheather or not you will be dancing while using the pill.

Everybody is different, and will respond differently to forced serotonin release. Some people recover quickly, others don't. Serotonin is generally considered to be a "rubber" system, in that it is flexible and takes a long time to gather itself once it's balance has been disturbed. Dopamine on the other hand, is considered a "robust" system in the psychiatric community, in that sudden changes in dopamine balance are quickly corrected.

More people will follow this curve than won't. Many people can experience extreme difficulty from just a few doses over a long period of time, while others can dose frequently over a short period of time and not notice any undesirable effects. It is not reasonable to apply a cut and dry rule to the harmful effects of MDMA on the human brain.

And, of all drugs, MDMA carries many more harmful effects than most.

Myself and my girlfriend are perfect examples. During the days of my ecstasy use (which I enjoyed immensely), I had limited myself, for my own protection, to no more than one pill per month. The rule was that no matter how weak that pill may be, I would never double dose. These rules ensured I put my money on properly researched doses, and that I didn't use too much ecstasy. I also applied all the self-protection techniques illustrated all throughout the internet: 5-HTP, B Vitamins, Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, SSRI post-loading, etc.

It wasn't long before I found myself in searing depression. I use the word "searing" because that's how it felt, like there was a hot iron of horrible feelings being pressed into my brain. I lost control of myself in a big way, was suicidal for a long period, and ended up locking myself in the closet for the duration. I gradually picked myself up again, and have abstained from ecstasy use since.

My girlfriend, on the other hand, not being aware of the dangers of ecstasy, has eaten upwards of a dozen pills in the span of one week, and continued weekly or biweekly dosing after that. I can count the amount of pills I've eaten on one hand, while she has lost track completely. She has yet to experience any noticible difficulty. She has told me of some temporary memory problems, though they cleared up for her with a week of abstinence.

It is up to the individual to regulate ecstasy use. I think that the individual should be just as informed about themselves as they are about their substances. Be very careful when using ecstasy.

In my opinion, ecstasy is too much to juggle and too little reward to reap. But Jesus, those Blue Versace's were good:
