I love the nicotine buzz though, especially in combination with alcohol, opiates, or uppers. Hence why I switched to an e-cigarette and am now able to enjoy tasty flavors in tandem with only spending $20 a month compared to ~$400, not inhaling carbon monoxide + tar + whatever other hundreds of additives the cigarette companies throw into their products, and not stinking up my surroundings.
Still gotta say that a chick looks 10x sexier while exhaling smoke from her perfectly make-up'd lips, though.
400$ a month????
How many packs of cigs is that in your part of the world?

The most expensive cigarette pack I used to smoke were Newport 100s, which were ~$9 a pack. I'd go through about two packs a day, which per month evens out to about $300. $400 was probably an overexaggeration, but I know I'd definitely lose a pack or give cigs out to people bumming them at bars quite frequently at times.
Either way e-cigarettes are hella cheaper, not to mention healthier for you.

American cigarettes suck. The full flavor Davidoffs are so good, or the old L&Ms with the charcoal filter... So smooth and tasty. (Non-American).
Now I really like the Peter Stokkebye rolling tobacco, really unlike any cigarette experience.
Love the smell of burning tobacco.
I haven't smoked a cigar lately, but I have a stash that's worth at least $1k. I remember smoking one a while back near an elementary school and some little girls were like, "something smells really good.", then they see me holding the cigar and are like, .

Most cigarettes sold in the US are putrid. The other day I went into a gas station after work to buy smokes. There were two women ahead of me in line. The first buys a pack of Camel 99's lights which are probably the most disgusting cigarette in existence. Then the next woman asks for American Spirit blue pack. The woman who bought the 99's goes, "Good choice!" and I'm thinking why the fuck did you buy 99's then? Spirits are practically the same price as all the others these days but people still smoke these nasty Camels and all this other garbage with so many additives it tastes bitter on your lips and palate.
For a dollar more you can get pure tobacco that doesn't have radioactive isotopes from conventional fertilizer in it.

Spirits are too harsh for my taste, and still aren't as good as the PS rolling tobacco I mentioned (seriously, if you smoke cigs, try it). I do like the Native American brand "Native" though, too bad they're only available at Indian reservations.
The only thing about cigs I don't like is that it's killing my lung capacity.

There are tons of different Spirits and some of them are too harsh. Like the regular Filters(blue pack) and the Perique Black or whatever. I think Perique is Native American for emphysema. The organic lights are a good middle of the road, pretty mild actually but burn twice as long as other domestic smokes like all Spirits.
I don't think I'll do rolling tobacco again. I tried several kinds on and off. Too much tar without a filter, even if you roll little pinners. I even went the machine tube stuffing route for a while but it led to smoking more and was too time consuming to load tubes. I just stick with organic Spirits now and smoke 2-3/day average.

I too went from smoking cigs to an ecig and it's amazing. I was spending about 250-300 a month on cigarettes. Also spending about 20 a month on juice now.
ecig doesn't smell.. in fact it smells good. I can vape it like crazy sitting at desk at work and I hear my boss up front go what's that pleasant vanilla / fruit/ whatever smell.
Where I live a pack of American Spirits cost about $7.50. I was smoking them for like 17 years so I had enough of that.
No more ashes in my car... no more stink.. taste buds/smell returning.. saving monies

I feel sorry for smokers who in their heart wish they could smoke a lot less or even quit but who feel too weakened by the drug to even make an attempt, or who constantly are moderating their tobacco use and either have frequent failures or have moderating put constant strain on them.
Guess what, thats almost all smokers.
Smokers are distinctly less healthy than they would be if they didnt smoke, ALL THE TIME and HALF of lifetime smokers die by smoking related or smoking aggrevated illness.
Hard drug health risks for a flavor.
Poor, poor smokers

Yeah some people seem to find it excruciatingly difficult to quit, one guy I know has supposedly been trying to quit for years now, he always sets a date to start cold turkey and proceeds to fail miserably, I think if he was serious about his intentions to give up he'd just throw away what he has and start now. I gave up for a month or so then decided to buy some Dunhills to smoke whilst I was on opiates, I must admit that a cigarette when under the influence of the sleepy poppy is heavenly. Regardless being a part time smoker didn't work out for me as soon enough I was back to habitually smoking, as, like a poster above mentioned, it usually comes to pass that you need the nicotine to feel normal again, for me it seems there is no mid-way, I either smoke or I don't. This time I should find it a little easier as I'm quitting opiates in an attempt to get my shit together and I rarely drink alcohol anyway, those are two things that keep me hooked on cigarettes. I'm just about to take my own advice and throw away the last few cigs that I have, I do feel pretty weak when I consider how many times I've tried to give up and failed...

Thats the thing, most people cant manage being a parttime smoker. After about 20min your blood nicotine levels take a nosedive and its all downhill from there.
Most people tend to become 1.5 packs a day smokers because that corresponds to the use of about 1 cig per half hour, which is what nicotine demands.
Nicotine isnt like methadone, its like fentanyl: very habitforming and very addictive because of an unreasonably short halflife. Its not a willpower thing, most people are very sensitive to addictive drug reenforcement and thus will naturally gravitate to ane cig every half hour if they smoke.
Smoke NONE or smoke a MILLION its the only way.

the war on poor people.
Except in Canada, on average smokers die faster, and actually use less health care do to the forms of cancer they contract being more deadly and less treatable.
And then add that they voluntarily pay thousands of dollars a year in extra tax non smokers dont contribute.
Smokers end up have a positive net gain when it comes to canadas health care.
Canada brings in 7.5 billion dollars (2010-2011 year) in tax revenue at the federal and provincial level, from tax on tabacco products, not including any sales tax that is applied to any item.
The amount of money gained from tobacco is incredible.
I'm trying to find the article and source for the original argument, but its been a few years. It was quite a controversial article.

I love the smell of ciggarettes, even though i'm not a big smoker myself or anything. For some reason the smell is a little nostalgic to me.
