Fighting tickets

I'm talking like photo radar tickets, is it even possible to get off without paying one?
Two weeks ago at about 6 am on a sunday morning, right after we got our first gigantic snowfall my car glided right through a empty intersection on a yellow light, and then of course I seen the flash from the radar post thing. I glided through because I tried to stop but couldn't, obviously I should have been driving a little slower but I was going to be late for work.
Any way to fight this?
the ticket is $286.00, just got it in the mail today... I'm heading to work in like 10 minutes but I was wondering if anyone has ever fought a ticket before like this...
This was not issued from a cop, it's from an automated radar weapon system designed to suck money out from the population. Discuss.

If you tell them you slid through the intersection then you'll get charged with failure to control. I would just leave it as is.

I'm pretty sure red light camera tickets don't affect your insurance, as they can't really prove who was driving the car at the time.
The insurance is the thing to worry about, as that can end up costing you a lot more than 280 if you end up with too many points.

In America it is a right to be able to face your accuser in a court of law. That translates to the COO bringing in the radar gun he used to catch you speeding with or in this case the camera on the pole they will never bring in.
In the 15 or so cases I have seen this logic used the case was thrown out. But that was many moons ago.

Yeah it defiantly doesn't affect my insurance which is the big deal in all this, so that's a plus. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what they say, if it can be reduced that would be

I wasn't speeding at all, I just should have been driving slower so It would have been easier to stop. I'm fighting this ticket because it had just snowed like half a foot, it was 6 am in the morning and I was driving, doing the speed limit and then the light turned yellow; I braked but I slid halfway through a empty intersection.

Not being able to drive in snow doesnt excuse running a light, though.
I feel for you man im just questioning where in your defense you didnt actually break the law. I dont think it would be worthwhile to fight this

Yeah, in bad conditions you are supposed to be prepared for certain things to happen, like sliding. That is why most people drive slower in the snow.
Go ahead and try to fight it because you were sliding because of the snow, they'll laugh at you and give you a failure to control ticket on top of the other one.

As far as fighting goes I'm just going as far as seeing if it can be reduced, I already know I'm not getting off with nothing and I'm defiantly not going to court to try to remove it completely. Technically I ran the red light no doubt, it was by accident because I FAILED to stop in time, which is my fault no doubt but I don't think I should have to pay in full. The intersection is gigantic though it wasn't a small one, the reason why I don't think I should pay in full because it literally just snowed that night, no one plowed the roads because it was the FIRST gigantic snowfall and it was still snowing at the time. Lots of snow on the road, ect.
I don't think it's unreasonable to have it reduced, but we'll see what they say I'll let you guys know how it goes.

No they won't laugh, it's not unreasonable that I'm asking it to be reduced.

what do you got to lose . 200 bucks is a lot of money, i dont care if you are rich. op you should have stopped the whole way and not gone further. the camera would have caught you in the middle of the street or something and the court would be able to see that you actually did try to stop.
i'd fight it just because i can. if you have time ofcourse.
