I like to work in some peoples mulch beds because I usually find at least one cool find. Turns out, my friends got chantrelles in his front bed.

Cool pics. Wood mulch beds are getting more and more press for harbouring some very rare/unusual/exotic mushroom species, sometimes in large quantities. Often if you want to see interesting shrooms, mulch is a comparable substrate to ancient woodland/grassland habitats (although supporting a different species assemblage of course). As you are a fan of mulch you probably wont be surprised to here that in England there are presently more new records of species made from mulch than from natural habitats. Why is a whole nother story. The chantarelles you show must be growing into the mulch from the underlying soil cause they are mycorrhizal.

the top ones could be anything, maybe Inocybe from the fiber (mleeeaeaehaeah  :crazy2:) or Pluteus because of their substrate and look. but the pileus also splits in an Inocybeaular way.

number two i have no clue.

number three i dont know

the last one is probably Leucocoprinus birnbaumii (=L. luteus). there is at least one related species that is macroscopically distinguished as being smaller and and more fragile: L. fragillisumus

cool stuff
