Minty bud?
    #19186245 - 11/25/13 10:22 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Ever had bud that smelled really minty, with a little bit of piney-ness?

If so, how was it? Could it be an indicator of high or low quality?

I've had a couple batches that tasted minty, they weren't very good imo

If it's a really strong mint/pine taste I would avoid picking up a lot of it. IME it generally doesn't burn well, I'm not sure why it tastes like that. But the burn is a give away it's not good. If it's burning white you're probably good to go.

If it's overly minty/piney then it's probably fairly fresh.
I've had some decent piney buds; but for the most part they could use a few more weeks of proper curing.

Some strains have a piney overtone to them.  As the others have said, I think it is a matter of curing, though some varieties will have that flavor component no matter how long you cure them.  I grew some that turned out that way and it had nothing to do with potency.

In terms of taste, less minty and more skunky is generally better.

Never had bud that smelled minty alone, but I'll occasionally mix some organic peppermint or spearmint tea with my bud. I love the flavor, I actually prefer the mix over just bud alone. Not sure how healthy it is to be burning peppermint though.

A good indicator of quality is if it looks shimmery because of the crystals. Lime green with yellow hair, deep purple with orange hair, or white with red hair. These are indicators of some strong marijuana. It is hard to tell though piney smells can be amazing stuff or can be brick weed. Which if you just started smoking it shouldn't matter too much. Don't worry about the quality too much, just be high and happy lol. The best weed I have smoked is white rhino and it blew any other high quality bud I have had out of the water. That stuff will put your mind on cloud 9.

My favorite and the strongest buds I've ever smoked were all kushes that reaked of pinesol and diesel :drooling:
Not that all phenotypes of OG/pure kushes smell like that, but most are pretty piney.

I'm assuming OP meant it has a lot of menthol on the exhale.
Not sure what those coke candies taste like, but now I'm curious :tongue2:
