Mushrooms growing where they're not meant to be.

So today was the day; Birthing! I let the mycelium consolidate for about a week and was beginning to see pins, everything was going as planned. Then when i cracked open the jar, right on the Verm barrier there was this flush of mushrooms! Obviously i can't put put down the cake one normally would without damaging them, So I'm seeking your guys input/suggestions/ideas on how to deal with it.

Here's another cake.

Can't help but be a little exited though, it's my first successful grow!

Buts that the thing… i can't, because the mushrooms are growing on the surface that usually faces the perlite. There growing on the base of the cake, maybe i just flip the cake around and grow with an upside down cake? i'm not sure…

you are contradicting yourself from your initial post
fruit the cake like how it is shown in your pictures

its not a bad thing that they are growing there the verm will act as a casing layer and hold in moisture. you can keep that end down still if you want and the shrooms will still grow or you can flip the cake over, they will be fine either way. If you flip the cake you might want to put some verm underneath so it will hold water that your cake can feed off of.

Dafaq
Thought the pictures made it fairly obvious if the words couldn't convey the message. They're on the 'Verm barrier' man, you know the surface that faces the perlite. I will proceed to dunk and roll

Yeah I think I might flip one cake (fruit bodies facing up) and put the other cake down normally (so the cake is resting on the fruit bodies). See how things go.

I would just fruit them both upside down, with shrooms upwards. Why make it harder than needed?

the verm barrier is the top of your cake, not the perlite facing side

Lol. The mushrooms know the way, man. Follow the path of the mushroom.

You're underestimating mushroom if you think the weight of the PF is going to damage them. But set the cake how you want I don't think it'll make much difference. However, you'll often get pins forming on the bottom after birthing. In that scenario you might feel like flipping the cake out of worry that growing on the bottom will hinder they're development, but if anything the opposite it true.
