Favorite sources for least biased news

I'm just wondering what some of you all use as far as least biased news sources on the web. I know all sources are going to have some bias, but i just want something that's reasonably factual and gives a larger perspective on the issues rather than just trying to outright convince the readers of their personal perspectives. Maybe i'm asking for too much, but i find it very hard to engage in real world issues when it seems as if every source I try to get info from is pushing some sort of agenda or at the least dominated by one-sided perspectives. This morning I stumbled across some site called alternet and thought "well hey this could be cool." Put it to the test by looking up some articles on topics i actually know about and it did not deliver It was almost as bad as the major news outlets except it preached the opposite
Furthermore i know it's never good to get all your info from any one source. Issues i really care about I go deeper in to. But for just daily keeping ups and what not i don't have time to nitpick every article with outside sources so i want something i can at least trust to get most of the facts right and deliver broad perspectives

Unbiased news is a fallacy. It doesn't exist. You should seek out sources that cover stories in depth, even if there is an agenda of sorts. If you balance that out by having more than one source, it becomes pretty easy to tell when details are being left out.
For world news, I would go with the BBC or Al Jazeera. American outlets pay very little attention to the rest of the world.
For US news, the Washington Post and the New York Times are really the only newspapers left that have enough resources to do journalism. Stay away from yahoo and aggregates. They are a real cesspool of junk and no so serious topics.

I've been liking Al Jazeera lately. And BBC is good. I'm sure they all carry some bias though, but probably not nearly as politicized as United States media.

Unbiased news is hard to come by
Reuters, Al Jazeera, BBC, RT, and I don't have any chinese or indian news sources. Pretty much your goal should be to use a diverse number of organizations with funding spread all over the world. RT is always going to have a russian slant, BBC british, Al jazeera has regional loyalties i'm sure as well (Although where exactly they lie i'm not sure).
Reuters is my go to as an American tho.

Like i said originally... "LEAST" biased news
And like i said, i know the importance of diversifying where i get my information from. But a lot of the more biased information sources leave me with very little starting place for fact checking. It's just one guys word against anothers. It's not so difficult when it comes to areas of study that i am familiar with, but especially when it comes to world affairs and politics i don't have any kind of formal training to adequately dissect what's fact and bs. So it helps to know i'm getting reasonably accurate news and work from there.
Anyways good suggestion guys. Thanks, i'll look into those

Well that's part of the issue... I'm not just looking for alternative news. I'm looking for mostly factual news that can provide at least a broader perspective on the issue. Circle jerking my own ideas with an alternate news source is no more productive than slamming fox for being biased. I suppose it's still a good way to check the other side of the story, but what i really like about the little i've seen on BBC is that they just provide the information of what's being said and what's being done without really leaning to one side or the other. They kind of just give you the info and leave it up to you to see what you think. They also seem okay with publishing taboo material without exactly supporting it or tearing it down.
That's just based off the little i've seen. That's more what i'm looking for. It's good to check out the bias of course... But one thing i've realized is how gullible i am when reading articles i know nothing about as opposed to reading articles i know a lot about and it fucking scares me when i find so much misinformation and realize that i've been eating up other misinformation all along.

I think its quite easy to find unbiased news.
All you have to do is read the most biased news there so you can get all the sides to a story possible and then make the the most unbiased news you can, which is, your own opinion

Well as I said before you have to spread out your sources from different regions. You're never going to get the full perspective just using American/British/Canadian media. News with just the facts or "objective" news is IMO a disingenuous way to report, and not as important as it's made out to be. Don't let an "objective" story fool you into thinking it has any more validity than one with an opinion. Greenwald and the Guardian are most popular contemporary examples of this. Look for verifiable facts, the more the better. If you're listening to a Fox News or any rant full of supposition just turn it off. Don't turn it off because the person sharing information with you is also sharing their opinion along with facts*

Yeah i get that. Didn't mean to say I "just want the facts." Perspective is important. But i need those perspectives to be more global and grounded in the facts. Because the honest facts are the only way i have to ground myself to truth on matters i'm not that familiar with. If fox wants to tell me that Jesus rode dinosaurs and another source wants to tell me that dinosaurs existed far before humans, i want to see the evidence, i want to see what the scientists have to say, and what the christians have to say and dissect the arguments from there. All of it's important, but an issue i have is that biased sources often dilute the facts to the point where i can't make the connections without going reallly deep in to it. Ie both sides come off equally convincing to someone who doesn't know the fundamentals of what they're reading. That's fine and all for issues that i am REALLY concerned with. I can take the time to learn everything. But for just waking up and reading the news and trying to understand what's going on around me, i don't have the time to be learning new subjects entirely
I just want some places that are relatively honest about what's happening and what the different perspectives surrounding it are. What i'm concluding from these last few comments is that that doesn't exist too much

Yup pretty much non existent
It seems that news doesn't make much money, so the only people left in the game are too massive. That is a problem all over the world, some European countries do local "pbs" type stations to keep local issues transparent.
And i hope the infowars link was a troll.....Because that is a prime example of the kind of terrible shit you should not watch.....Not that you didn't know that already

You can do better than a banal cliché - right down to that "democrat parly" thing. Very predicable.
