Heard my first anti-marijuana legalization PSA today

Where I live there's a bill going around that's trying to get marijuana legalized. Currently medical marijuana dispensaries exist, but they are quasi-legal and occasionally get shut down.
As me and my gf are walking around a dollar store today, I hear an advertisement playing on the radio talking about how legalizing marijuana is bad. At one point the chick talking on the radio mentioned something about cigarettes and alcohol being legal, and how we teach young children it's bad to drink and smoke when they are young, so if we legalize pot, they will get the impression that it's okay to smoke pot...
What teh fuck? That made absolutely no sense! But hearing this made me think that the legalization campaign was actually starting to gain some ground, I mean shit, some organization is actually having to go to the lengths of funding an anti-marijuana PSA, and airing it on the radio? I haven't seen anti drug ads on TV since I was a little kid, and that wasn't even for the legalization, it was just "drugs are bad mkay" propaganda.
Well it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

In my shitbag redneck fuckhead state prisons are privatized and people are forced to go to rehab for marijuana 'addiction'. So there's a huge, already in place, industry with an anti-marijuana agenda. They make millions, probably billions, locking up easy to deal with, non-violent people. But medical marijuana is gaining ground, even in the south. But get caught with any drug without a script down here and you're looking at years.

I actually agree with that. I'm sure if you polled kids about their perspective on weed when illegal vs. legal they would confirm that. It's just logical. The question is: Is it bad?

That's really our fault though, not legalization. The reason every one thinks its okay to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol probably has a lot more to do with the way we advertise them than the fact they are legal. Plenty of legal drugs exist that few people consume because they're not marketed as "classy" or shoved in your face every time you try to check out from a convenience store.
Imo drug advertisement shouldn't be allowed at all

Yep if anyone believes that legality implies safety, the problem is one of education more than anything. Alcohol and tobacco are not safe and everyone should know this by now, even kids. The myth that illegal drugs are all worse for you than legal ones probably comes mostly from pro-prohibition miseducation anyway.
