i'd say don't fix what broken, but u don't need the oyster shell if u don't want to, and if u in a hurry (i know i am before work a lot) u can get away with 40 min on sterilization time, cause it take a while to cool down below 140, so even when u turn PC off, substrate still pretty hot. there are some weird thick white patches on there, maybe it just the camera?
besides that looks good! next time try a liner, u won't regret it!

1:4 spawn ratio is a little low, try a little higher next time for faster colonization. Be sure to mix it well for even colonization. Otherwise it looks ok, just give it time.

4:4:1 was my substrate mix ratio.
My spawn to substrate ratio was 2:4 and mixed very well.

I dont know why i didn't put the liner in? Had it cut ready and everything, probably just high? Lol
The white blobs are mycelium growth. When colonising in jars, the mycelium was really thick and fluffy and brilliant white like clouds. Its doing the same in the tub. (A+ strain)
I have some great pics on my phone of jars, buts its an old piece of shit, and likes to crash when sending data. Will try to get them.

Also it is sat on top of my 'cuttings' cabinet which has a light on inside 24/7 and stays warm. The thermometer next to the tub reads 74'f, is it ok to give it warmth like this from the base?

one time when i was stoned i spawned a tub, cut liner, taped it up, put lid on and in my room to start colonizing. i came back to clean up jars and tape, etc and realized i forgot to put in half the spawn! had to do it all over again.

Its made of 18mm chipboard and sealed/ fae via fan, ducting and carbon filter.
Thermometer next to tub went to 77 during the day. For the first time in ages the sun showed it face today

i hate to be a downer...but that growth looks weird in the one u hold in ur hand. kinda looks like when i let my oyster jar get too overgrown. the bottom grains do not match the top, they look wet. maybe its me?

The one in my hand/middle of the group is on human grade barley grain. It has no husk and gets very wet and sticky. Difficult to break up when shaking. I have to use a spoon to get it out.
The tape is there because i injected through the tyvek and i just covered the hole as a precaution. Couldn't find my micropore tape, which is what i normally use. Probably unnecessary, but its worked for me so far.
Ive also got some B+ on brf in trays and they have a similar 'cloud' growth on the surface? Will try a pic.

cool yea try and post a pic. it just looks really thick for cube growth, u can barely see the grain on the top of the jar. if u have an sab, next time inoculate in that by unscrewing lid and dropping some in, then screw back on, like u were doing a g2g or agar wedge inoculation. that way u don't need to worry about breaking filter and taping it or modifying lids beyond u already have. so lid>tyvek>lid ring>foil over it all in the pc, then take off. 1 1/4" hole is ok, maybe up to 3/8".

Excuse the tape lol, trying out different ones. This one is treaed with Zinc Oxide. And i tape this way because i live in a hobbit cottage with 3 cats, dust etc can be problem at times and this is the easiest way for me to quickly seal something like this.
Both A and B were spore syringes from different companies. And similar growth patterns.
Both these pics are B+

Yeah its 2 parts verm, 1 part brf + 3 tbsp oyster shell ( i will give this habit up when i run out lol) and 1 part water.
Trying out 500ml take away containers. Which should give a larger surface area than a round cake of the same volume? With more surface area, hopefully more pins? More shrooms quicker, but will have an effect on subsequent flushes? Just a theory?
You think they look ok? Ive got 8 trays like this.

Do you mist your trays...and water them when the sides pull away?...Did you case it too?
