Spent the past 6 hours working on this dirty house/ progressive track and im so pumped to get it mastered, equalized and completed. I usually dont bob my head to my own music but damn this came out of nowhere.
Anyone else make electronic music?

I used to make trance and house music for years until I graduated to playing real instruments.
sometimes I feel nostalgic and feel like making electronic music but in my opinion I much more enjoy making real live music with real instruments and other real people.
its much cooler to play a live show with a real band than to just replay some pre recorded electronic track.
you young whippersnappers should realize that
Real live musicians > techno.

I agree with this guy. I respect electronic music, but normally when its more organic, improvised, and mixed in with real instruments.
I know writing electronic music isn't exactly easy, but I feel like this new generation of kids become "djs" because they are to lazy to learn a real instrument.
Instead of putting in the long hours of dedication to master an instrument, these kids mix and mash some electronic shit up and now call themselves "musicians".

I make a lot of electronic music but I never actually get round to finishing the tracks because I always feel there is more to be done and I'm very critical of my work. I do enjoy playing with samples and digital synths though. I'd prefer to play live electronic music similar to what daft punk and lcd soundsystam do but I just can't afford that.
I'm planning on starting a punk folk group, cause I love just playing for people; whether you make music or play it its all about the fun you have doing it.
While I do agree with the person above that real bands are great, there is a lot to be said for DJs, I find they normally have better music tastes than some guitarist who wants to be the new Hendricks or Cobain.

Agreed but hey, that's how I started too and hell some of it's catchy, I remember how stoked I was the first time I made a punchy techno track.
fast forward 15+ years later and now I play guitar and mandolin in a folk band.
I've done both and to me its waaaaay more satisfying as a musician playing your music in the moment live. I love the feeling of syncopated music flowing out of you as you perform. There is much more potential to improvise and jam with real instruments, I mean you can't take your mixer to the beach and jam some blues with a random guy you know?
so yeah I'm not knockin techno, at times I love listening to it and I used to be big into it, but as I've evolved as a musician I've realized the artistic proficiency that real instruments take as well as the increased musical potential they have in the moment.
Its funny because I went from being a hardcore trance producer to now playing in a folk band go figure.

I've been really wanting to collaborate with someone who does electronic music. Bust out some nice shreds over some super ambient psytrance or something.

I dont DJ, I compose and am working towards full producing. I refuse to take someone elses song, add a twist and a synth and call it making music. Anything I make is completely from scratch, my basses and all I made myself with VST's.

Lol not hard to believe, Like I said I play a 5 string banjo scruggs style. Used to play with a folk band around here on the regular but not so much anymore. The mando player/frontman became kind of a dick.
