Considering joining the air force

Sorry if this is tl;dr but i just wanna get it all out so i get the best opinions from others. So I'm 19, working 15 hours a week and living at home with my mom going to college full time majoring in engineering science. I have a beautiful girl, my parents are doing average financially, and I have a great job but lately I've been considering the service. I was thinking about joining the air force maybe after this semester ends because I think having the chance to fly a fighter jet someday would be damn fun.
I think why I'm considering this is because of a few reasons, the first being I live with my mom and pay for my car insurance but other than that I feel like such a mooch on my parents with food money and doctor bills, etc. i just want to be start making a real living now...you know? The other reason being it would straighten me out real good.
I say it'll straighten me out because I mess with a lot of drugs, lately I've been trying to just stick to whats not bad for you like psychedelics and bud but somewhat rarely I indulge in the downward spiral drugs like opiates, benzos, amphs and k/mxe and I kinda feel like the service would be a good little way for me to get away from it all for a little while and focus on getting my shit really together. I'm not doing bad in my classes, i probably have like a B- average in my classes and thats because i always get the shit in a little late or at the last minute.
My motivation is there...but it's not, know what I mean? I have some serious life goals I want to achieve but the motivation to so the homework and shit never comes until like the last 30 minutes until an assignment is due. I just feel like the service would really get me clean, straighten me out and give me that motivation on the spot that i really need.
Plus I wanna get ripped, I hit the gym enough already and as soon as i start getting even a little big i just fall off and stop going for awhile. So that's a big benefit along with they pay for your college and give you a little side money...which would make my parents happy and I could maybe even move out too and stop moochin. My girl said she's definitely not goin anywhere and i believe her so that's not a problem.
The big problem is that I'm not sure if I would be supporting a good cause, I haven't witnessed everything my own eyes that has gone down all through history so I really don't know if I'm fighting for a good cause though, am I fighting for the good of humanity/morals...or am I fighting for the war machine, killing people who don't deserve it, resources. and putting money in the pockets of corrupt war-mongers?
I would have no problem killing someone who damn well deserves it but I won't dare fire at a man who doesn't deserve it. Would maybe the coast guard be a more moralistic approach? Or is the military as a whole just a terrible idea for me? All input is seriously appreciates, thanks for reading.

You probably won't ever see actual combat in the Air Force. You certainly could reduce the risks of that happening by being selective about your job title.
I didn't read your whole post, sorry it's just not happenin. So I'm just trying to give you the information I have.
The military is well worth it if you want to set yourself up for your future. Paid college, disability (if you end up disabled), bonuses for joining.. A kick in the ass when you need it.
I was Infantry in the Army and I made it through. I came out somewhat scarred but I might not even be alive if I hadn't joined. Mind you I am an absolute pussy when it comes to pain, and I dislike authority figures and working out. I still made it through.
Also I was in a few combat situations and never had to fire my weapon at anybody, let alone kill someone. You can read my journal if you ever are interested.
I'm sure you will be fine in the Air Force though, especially if you research what you want to do.
Edit: You are legally required to follow all orders, UNLESS they are morally wrong. (Not sure of the exact wording)

you can work harder on yourself all on your own, although a bit harder, not at all impossible. i understand the need to go though, i would support any decision you'd make, i think it would be a great opportunity to see and do something different. it takes guts to go out of your comfort zone, let alone thinking about it, so that on it's own is a great step. if it were me i would think about it long and hard and then make a final decision, but that has usually stopped me from doing a lot of things i wanted to do, so yea..
i hope you find what you are looking for

As far as I know, you have to be at the top of your class in the top classes to even have a prayer of flying a multi-million dollar aircraft. Just something to consider. Also, if you finish your degree you could enlist with a much higher rank (and pay)...

Thanks zZZz, means a lot man, really. I've been trying to push myself alone and it's damn hard sometimes.
Lynnch, that last point was a big one and would also allow me to plan ahead for it down the road. Good thought, thanks

Thanks, you reminded me of something I meant to say.
OP. My time in the military hold some of my most incredible and awe inspiring experiences, in addition to some of the worst things I've ever been through in my life thus far.
I think it is worth it, or was worth it for me.
But yeah, you can do every thing you can in the military..not in the military. It really depends on what you want and your circumstances.
Also I would wait to see how the next situation with the debt ceiling pans out before you to decide to go. I'm not confident in getting my check from them every month because of that.
