Bipolar Disorder and Psilocybin

Hi all.
I've been considering trying psilocybin for spiritual exploration. However, I have a bit of a family history of bipolar disorder (my aunt and brother have both been diagnosed). I looked into it and apparently it's very risky to try if you're predisposed to mental issues. I'm currently 18, and have no reason to believe I have bipolar disorder (although the onsent tends to be around your early 20's). I don't plan on using them very often, and don't drink alcohol or use any other drug recreationally (aside from pot). Even with weed I've never experienced anxiety or any negative emotions.
Would it be too risky to try shrooms?

nope. i don't think so, anyways. i think i might have Bi-Polar too, and i've never had an existential crisis or a horrible trip on Shrooms, because of anything related to any mania or depression. in fact, it seemed to help with any depression, i'd been feeling at the time.

I don't think bipolar will emerge from shroom use. It will be MDMA and speed use that trigger that, surely, since they take you into a kind of pleasurable manic state then depress you for weeks.
It would be schizophrenia you would worry about with psychedelics. Although I wouldn't say the mushroom experience is 'psychotic' psilocybin does work on the exact receptors antipsychotics block, and it makes sense that if you play with these receptors indicated as being the medium of schizophrenia, with a family history, you're asking for it.
But with only a family history of bipolar you should be okay with psychedelics.

I have a friend that is bi polar and I can tell it and I can tell when he is on his up or down a mile away. I've done acid and shrooms and salvia and dmt with him, the Salvia and dmt were the same night and he did great. He really appreciated the experience.
No matter if you are bi polar or not you should always feel out your mood beforehand.

if your doing 10 grams of shrooms, n have a traumatic experience, you most likely will have some type of side effect if not initially. i did.
