Cakes ready for birthing or nah?
    #19170446 - 11/21/13 02:50 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I'm not trying to be too itchy, the vermiculite isn't totally covered (which may be the best time to grow, when fully covered by myc) but I can give these a couple or more weeks, it's  growing too fast, I could possibly birth the one jar with a lot of in-vitro mushies.

What do yall think, let them wait or birth next week?

You got pins on all of them. I'd say birth em.  What part of the cake is still not colonized?

The top dry verm layer is not supposed to colonize....if the bottoms are all colonized, fruit them.

This is the only part uncolonized, should I wait this part out?

U could give em a few days or cut the uncolonized part off with a sterile blade. Spray a little h202 on the wound and you should be good. Those pins are gonna be a bitch to get out without bruising.

Are you fruiting as cakes or spawnimg to bulk/ casing em? If yoyr gonna do it as cakes let em fully conolize, then let em consolidate for at least 4 days after.. you dont wanna fruit it as a cake with an uncolonized portion bc you may find when you go to cut out the uncolonized piece that the whole inside is not colonized..

Thanks for wise words, I birthed them today. That white patch wasn't noticeable when I washed off the verm
